Was self cleaning my upper over yesterday and during the cleaning process all my functions stopped working, no clock, nothing and the door to the oven is locked and cannot get it open. I have tried the ciruit breaker and that has not helped. Does anyone have any suggestions.
Big dib, the TC0, ( thermal cut out) probably has opened. This is non resetable. To get at it you have to pull the oven out to a point where you can get at the back. Then you have to remove the oven back panel and there is the TCO. Part number 4450249. You can verify this by ohming out the TC0, if it shows open (no continuity) it's bad. I have done a number of these and it takes two people to repair it safely. Kill the breaker when going in there. Catriver..post back.

Whirlpool RBD245PDB6 went dead and locked up during self cleaning. It was the third or fourth time in 8 years we used self cleaning. The TCO in the back was open, replaced it but still inoperative. I found a thermal limit fuse in line on the black wire leading to the printed circuit board. It too was open, after replacing it the oven works fine. Check both fuses.

This problem is chronic with this oven. Complain as loudly as you can to Whirlpool. It won't do any good, but they should know that there are more than just a few of us out there who are dissatisfied with their product.

Whirlpool model #RBD275PDQ. (27" and not 24") Same problem. In the self-cleaning mode the total oven shut down. The upper door stayed locked. This was probably only the 4th time I did the self clean in the 9 years or so since I had the total kitchen re-done. For $258 the repair guy got the bottom unit working but the upper is still dead. He said for another $400 or so we can have the whole thing working again! Ouch! Though far past any warranty period, paying almost $700 to get it back running is an outrage!
Exact same problem. Stay away from Whirlpool. I sure will.
My issue sounds exactly like the one listed. I was self cleaning when about half way through the process the oven had a total system failure. There was no display, so I checked my circuit breaker, at the box. It wasn't tripped. Now I have an oven that doesn't work, and I cannot get the oven door open. Ugh! I will be calling Whirlpool to express my concerns!
Ps., at the time of this email, the cost of the TCO was only $42.13.
We also had our oven shut down completely. It was the second time we had cleaned the oven.. My daughter, in the cool down cycle, pressed the off button.
Also when turning ON the bottom OVEN to use both at the same time they would both go warm and never heat-up. We never had the use, of two ovens from the begining. We thought it was age of our home, finally had everything checked out and we had enough power to the unit.
Our oven also locked up!
We took in the fuse in the back of the unit/ it checked fine.We had two re-pairmen from the same repair shop come out.( after 3 1/2 hours and two days. The cost was expected to be close to 500.00)
They after changing a small fuse above the door latch and behind the clock. Once the front panel was changed we had a digital reading. Before we had no reading of clock or otherwise showing , this prevents the showing of error to a repair person. The power strip that connects the front panel was bent in instalation it seem to have been bent as it was cracked. We orderd a new front panel includes plastic trip and had it installed $ 132.00. We did not the green computer one ($220.00)attached and it works. The latch is magenetised and can easily be put in place it is also above and behind the panel. We are baking up a strorm and the bottom oven even works now!!! All due to the front panel! Which can be orderd with the model #. The model # is on the inner door of the oven. Always remember any time handle- Turn off power to appliances.
We had a small fuse above the latch, and the front panel changed and now have the use of both ovens! Finally sucess ! I was disapointing to think we got a lemon. But now I am in great hope of a Thankgiving dinner and usuing both ovens at the same time.
