Get a CD cleaning disc from Walmart or Amazon. There are two laser optics, tracking and read/write/ It sounds like both of yours are dusty with either causing the issue. The tiny brushes on the disc clean the lasers.
Go here - http://www.minidisc.org/part_Denon_DN-M991R.html . Get the owner's manual. Read it.
The preset mode changes whether you record analog or digital.
Assuming nothing is jamming or is bent, the weak eject is probably why the guy sold it to you. It can't hurt to take the cover off and watch what happens.
I can't find the DMD-M30 manual on the Denon website.
A lot of the other "free manuals" websites are not really very good and are just trying to get your email address so that they can send you spam email.
I would recommend trying to contact Denon directly.
Their details are:
Denon UK Division of D&M Audiovisual Ltd. First Floor, Imperial House 4-10 Donegall Square East Belfast BT1 5HD Northern Ireland Tel.: +44 (0)2890 279830 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting +44 (0)2890 279830end_of_the_skype_highlighting Fax: +44 (0)2890 312643
If Denon can't help you then I've found a company who will sell you a manual for £5.11. The link to their website is here: http://www.chsinteractive.co.uk/electrical-components/misc/dmdm30-instruction-book-denon.htm
Alternatively if you think your unit may have a fault but still wish to record on minidiscs then I have found a DMD-M30 for sale on ebay with a current bid price of just £1.70 with 3 days remaining in the auction. The link is here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DENON-MINI-DISC-RECORDER-PLAYER-DMD-30-/260746909956?pt=UK_CE_Cassette_RL&hash=item3cb5ba1904
Sorry, but it's around twelve years old and spares are no longer available. The only fix is to trplace it with another used MD deck.
You can see the specs of yours and compare it to others at MiniDisc.org, later models are far better as they have MDLP capability and some even have NetMD functions for digital file transfers onto MD's.
go to the Minidisc users website - any Sony minidisc will have almost the same identical features as the Denon, and should be an almost perfect match as far as features. Try like a Sony JE550, etc
