I have the Archos Gmini XS 100 4MB and am currently using Windows XP I can charge my Mp3 using the USB cable but my computer cant recognise it. It comes up Removable disk G but when i click on it it says...

probably means your pc doesn't like it for some reason. i have XP too,and that happens to me sometimes. try plugging it in then taking it out again then putting it back in. if not, look at the properties of it.

The power randomly shuts off, will not stay on

I think squeezing the casing back together works... it did with mine. For a while anyway, I have yet to see if it lasts.

Gmini XS 202s wont turn on properly....

I heard of that problem, it could be your charger circuit and it could be your battery. There's a interesting forum post on this at www.newmp3technology.com: http://www.newmp3technology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=700

But here's something else: I'll buy your xs202s if you want.. :)
For a reasonable defect-price.
I have one but the display is broken.

Had no luck trying to find that obscure 2" 128x128 backlit greyscale korean display in the IC-market here in Europe.

It's not working!

Hold the X button for 10 seconds and it should re-boot itself.

DEVICE HAS'' READ ACCESS ERROR-CANNOT READ FROM HARD DISK''

If you have problems with the file system on your Gmini you can try to fix it using the DOS utility, check disk (chkdsk). Do the following; ? Make sure external AC adapter is powering the Gmini. ? Quit all running applications. ? Properly connect the Gmini to your computer ? Wait patiently (up to 5 minutes) for Windows XP to show the local drive as mounted. ? Open a DOS window. Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. ? At the prompt, type chkdsk e: /f. Use e: or f: or whatever drive letter is representing your Gmini. The /f argument tells the program to automatically fix errors. ? Be patient, this may take a while. ? When it is finished, exit the DOS Window and properly disconnect the Gmini from your computer. Try using the device now and see if makes any difference. If not you could try formatting it using a DOS prompt.

If the drive is ticking, it suggests the actual HDD is dying. You can try the following to see if you can fix any disc errors through your PC, however if your PC does not recognise a drive has been attached you may be unable to do anything other than have it repaired elsewhere. This method should help to fix any disc errors that have occurred within the FAT and help your PC recognise it again. If you have more problems, try formatting it using a DOS prompt. You MUST make sure NOTHING is trying to access the disc before you can format it - this includes windows explorer.
