Will not accept any tape

When ever i open the load area, the camera makes two beep sounds, but it does open, when i load a tape in and compress the tape down, not closing the handle part, but the tape bay it self, it will open back up and make the same two beep sounds, also when i have the display open and the camera on, it says remove the cassette. i cant figure out what it could be, iv tried a whole pack of tapes, and i only use one brand of tape.. im very confused, do i have to have a memory battery in, because i do not have one right now.. thanks

I have the same problem.  Does anyone have an answer to this.  What does CANON say about this.  I am recharging the battery.  Is that part of the problem?  How do we get an answer from CANON?

I bought this camara from someone with the same problem for 5 bucks at a yard sale. an easy fix. 1. blow the dust out 2. charge the battery. 3. put the tape in and when it gos down into the case close the door and turn it on, run tape on ff then rr then turn camara to record. if it says to eject tape at any time, eject it and do it again. it worked for me.

Mini tape holder keeps opening and it displays error beeps... Has been used at beach on various occassions... Any help would be appreciated.. Is there anyway we could clean the inside mechanisms?

Sounds like a little sand and / or moisture made it's way into the camera. A call to the Sony Company Tech Support will let you know if one of the canned compressed air cleaners for computers would be advisable.

Another thought is to check if there is something in or near the hinge of the tape hatch apparatus. Sometimes I take one of those electronics foam "Q-Tips" and wipe out the area in case a piece of dust or fuzz or something is causing a malfunction.

The camcorder will not accept a tape. without a tape, the thing will open and close. With a tape, it will beep and the motor spins, but it will not receive the tape.

hey pls put your cam with the 60 watt blub which can produce heat and put it like cabinet about 1 hours! it will solve it !
be happy for it!

Switched on - battery OK - no function light, will not eject cassette but motor makes an intermittant noise

This sounds very much like a tape jam and the camera is trying to un-load the tape but it is stuck round the capstan, run the tape back a little if you can, that should release it from it's snag area okay.

Sony DCR HC 42
I have the same problem as gskillman
Sony says it qualifies for a fla rate repair -- $201 plus taxes!!! Say what? This camera is only a couople of years old and has hardly ever been used.

Tape not loading

Chances are it is in need of a major cleaning. Usually by the time this happens the cleaning tape will do no good. A good internal cleaning is usually the only thing that will help it........Has it been droped? If it has then you could need repairs

Cannot load tape

Problem resolved. I apparently did not have the "hatch" door open completely. I tried it again, heard a click and the mechanism lifted to accept the tape.
