There are shear bolts that hold the tines on. they are designed to snap when u hit something big such as a big rock or pipe or something like that. they are designed to snap at so much pounds of pressure so u dont break any gears or gearshafts. a lot of times people dont realize this and put regular screws or bolts in it and run it. when they hit something they ussually snap the gearshaft inside the tiller. i have replaced this on my fathers tiller cause he did the same thing. so either u might need to put new shear bolts in or if u had a regular bolt in u probably snapped a gear shaft or a gear.

How to remove a gearbox on a ryobi cultivator

I had the same problem, the engine ran but the tines would barely move on my Ryobi tiller. There were 2 plugs on the gear box. I removed them with an Allen wrench and added oil until it leaked out, replaced the plugs, waited awhile and started it.That fixed the problem, it worked fine.

Tines won't turn

Detatch the HEAD and rotate it and then install it. There is a good chance you have Jammed the Head and this should reduce the pressure and allow it to work.

Ryobi ry60514 is frozen.

Does the engine turn over? If not then it has most likely seized. If the engine turns but the blades won't then make sure you didn't wrap something around the tines causing it to bind up

Ran fine now it seems like the engine is seized , only two years old the gas and oil mixture was fine it is a ryobi 60511b

take out plug and try to turn tines by hand and check the tines for free movement if free try to pull start it if still seized spray cylinder with penetrating oil and let sit if still wont turn over possible internal breakage-crank/piston rod

Tines stop under load

you have to get someone with a big tractor to "break" the ground up first. A tiller is just that...Not a plow
