Please help, my Averatec 3200 does not play dvds.

sometimes the discs get scratched enough that the player has difficulty reading them, using some car wax on the disc to clean it may help

Try to isolate the problem by using the drive with another computer. If its showing the same problem then your drive is probably busted. Also, try to change data sables, see if that will help. Have a good one.

Well, DVD Drives do burn out, and while you probably don't want to hear it, you might have to buy a new one. If you have restarted the computer several times, and haven't installed anything lately, then it may just be dead. But you should try to remember if you have installed anything lately, or done anything to change the laptop. Also, see if it will read CD's, or if it makes noise like the CD/DVD is spinning up/down or the eye is moving back and forth when you insert it. Good Luck

You can put any CD/DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray drive in it as long as you have the rigth connection cable and XP or above. i.e. PATA, SATA, SCSI...

Click on start right mouse click on My Computer your in System control...go to hardware to device look at the CD or what Windows is emulating then trouble shoot the hardware.
