I need to open up this dell 1704FPT monitor but can only get the sides to "pop" open. The four corners seem to be intent on not coming apart. If anyone can lend some advice that would be great. Thanks in advance!
-Flip the LCD face down and remove the screws that hold the base in place. -looking at the top edge of the LCD monitor you should see a small notch on each end between the front bezel and the back cover. -Using a plastic tool or a flat blade screw driver insert the tip and gently pop the case open. -Work your way around the edge of the case. -Once the LCD monitor is open unplug the control panel connector from the right side and remove the front bezel. The notches are actually at the bottom edge of the monitor between the black back panel and the silver edge strip. Front panel and silver edge are a screwed together unit.

For the Dell 1704FPVt, remove the front bezel, you will see a small notch about 2 inches from each corner on the bottom. Be careful to unclip the small board that operates the power and adjustment buttons.
Tunr the unit over on the face andremove the 4 screws from the back center, then the 4 lugs, two from each side of the VGA and DVI ports.
The unit is now free from the back of the case.

The best tool to open is a butter knife it needs to slip in flat but the trick is to pry toward the thin edge lifting the back plastic away from the thin bazel but hold it tight cause the screen will be connected to the thin front part there are little plastic locks that hold these two part together after your done it just snaps back to gether

I followed the directions to open the monitor and I stripped it down to the board that needs to be removed to get to the power cord area. Am I going in the right direction and what is next, after I pull the board with the three screws? Will I need a meter of some sort to test? Thanks...
