Side by side not cooling

My GE profile side by side is leaking some water and now is not cooling. The temperature reads 27degrees in freezer and 51 degrees in refrigerator. Can not hear compressor only hear fan turning. I change the temperature on the electronic touch pad but it goes back to previous teperature. What is wrong?

Couple of things... first need to see if the compressor is really hot to the touch and "clicking" on and off every 3-5 minutes due to high heat (trying to start). If that's what is happening you likely have a "start device" failure (little box on the side of the compressor). If the box is white in color and you pull it off and it makes noise when you shake it (along with little bits of debris falling out) you know it's bad. They make a kit to fix that known problem. If the compressor isn't trying to start but actually runs quietly... check that the cooling coil isn't all iced up preventing proper air flow inside the cabinet (take the panel of the rear inside of the freezer section to check it). If that is all a block of ice basically you likely have a defrost cycle problem (defrost t-stat bad, defrost timer bad, etc.). Other than that you should have a little fan right above the coils to move air around, if the compressor is running and the compressor fan (called condensor fan) is running then this fan (called evaporator fan) should also be running to move the cold air around. If that fan is dead then you will have a nice cold coil but no air flow over it to cool the rest of the refer/freezer properly. Let us know what ya find out.

I had the evaporator fan replaced and the temp. dropped to 16 freezer and 41 refrig. It's better but not what I had before which was 0 freezer and 37 refrig.side, so the repair man came back out after 2days and replaced the cooling sensor. Now I have to wait 8-hours and see what that will do. He said the only other thing would be the computer board and that its expensive. Any other sugggestion on what my GE Artica 4-yrs old it could be??? He had said maybe I got a power surge, but I haven't. Need advice...

Not getting any water out of the dispenser, but its making ice

The water dispenser on my GE profile fridge stopped working for a couple days. The refrigerator and freezer temperatures have fluctuated over the past several months causing fridge items to periodically freeze and freezer items to periodically thaw. GE tech came today identified a bad circuit board, which he replaced for a cool $300. Ouch. Fridge is only three years old. Oh yeah, the icemaker also has a broken tab which causes it to jam every couple weeks. We have GE Profile appliances throughout our kitchen and they all work great except for the fridge :-( I hope GE engineers read this post. If so, get to work! LOL

GE Profile temperature going up and down

One of four problems,

1: this box has two sensors in the freezer... one on the top of the evap and one on the bottom left side of freezer cabinet (little small round white things) in the back lower portion of the freezer. These have been know to go bad and cause this problem.

2: you have a defrost problem caused by a bad main board or bad defrost heater.

3: you have a evap fan going bad on you, quits when frig gets to right temps. in other words the fan doesn't like the extreme colds,

4: door gaskets are leaking air around doors.

Our GE Profile Side by Side Refrigerator is leaking at the ice dispenser in the door. I've turned the water valve off, what should be my next step?

easy , 1 you have to chek if the line of your water is broken , 2 you have to see if it not from your freezer ( the defrost ; it do that 3 time per day ) if it leak for the frezzer you have to low the temperature in the freezer
