Question about Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Router
SOURCE: need key code
hi,
in order to get the secret code or security key,you have to log into linksys router interface.the detailed steps are given below:
1)connect a computer to linksys router using an ethernet cable(hardware connection)
2)open a browser(internet explorer or firefox or safari) and in the address bar type in- 192.168.1.1
3)It will prompt you for a username and password-leave the username blank, and in password field type in- admin(in lowercase)
4)now you should be in router page--click on wireless tab, next you can click on security sub tab which will be below to wireless tab(not the security tab adjacent to wireless)
5)now you should be able to view your security key as wep key or wpa key.
6)close the browser without making any change.
p.s:type the address(192.168.1.1.) in address box ,not in any search box,
thank you.

SOURCE: Need proper setup for linksys befsr41 to xbox
If the router is already set up, all you should have to do is run cable from router to xbox. Xbox should be set to automatically detect settings.

SOURCE: I am trying to connect
I think you meant the access key password for your wireless security and not the password for the router itself (2 separate passwords).
I'll give you both solutions starting with the wireless key password.
1. access the router configuration page by typing http://192.168.1.1 in your browsr.
2. This should pop up a log in window asking for user name & password
3. The default settings for a linksys router say to leave the username blank and type admin for the password.
4. once you're in look for the Wireless tab and click it then click on wireless security
5. your password will be listed there in the shared key box.
Now if its your router access password that you need you'll need to reset the router if you can't remember it and then follow the steps above to create a wireless security password. Here's how you reset the router. Remember that all custom settings you may have set will be erased and the router will go back to original factory configuration settings
1. On the back of the router you'll find a small hole or indentation and it may or may not have the word reset printed by it.
2. Find a paper clip or something of the same size and use it to press the reset button for about 2-3 seconds
3. Router will be reset
Good luck

SOURCE: I set up a home wi-fi network and have changed lap
There are several things you can do, both of which require you to plug your laptop into the router directly via Ethernet cable. These instructions are for a majority of Linksys Wireless Routers, but may work on others.
If you cannot connect and you are sure you have written down the password and entered it correctly, do a reboot of the modem and router in this order.
Good Luck!

SOURCE: how to set-up wi-fi for
First
you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer)
by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is
usually 192.168.1.1 and lookup for the options to do the
following: -
1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router
2. Change the default administrative user name and password (unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and the password password.)
(The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)
Next step is to secure it:
1.On
the left-hand side, under Setup, click "Wireless Settings" 2.Under
"Security Options", select your desired encryption method (preferably
WPA2-PSK)
3.Choose a Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length
4. Click Apply
Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet.
