Horizontal lines when I first turn on my Pansonic 51" PT-51HW41 Projection TV
When I first turn on my TV there are numerous horizontal, wavy lines. After a minute or so they go away. It is hard to tell, but I believe the problem is slowly getting worse. I am assuming that the set will eventually go, but how long? The TV is just over 5 years old, so don't want to spend big bucks fixing it.
Should I call someone now or just roll the dice until she quits?

Hello, You need to adjust (actually bit decrease) G2 volts (calls Screen volts) of Blue gun. If you are familiar with big TV repair and have electronics knowledge then let me know to guide you further. thank you.
this is very common with these sets. the fix is to replace 11 very very smal capacitor on what is known as the hypermodule. The ideal sitation is to replace the hypermodule. if you can find it. I can do this repair. I have done about 10 at the shop. if you need to i would suggest finding someone who is very experence in surface mounted repair
You will have two of the STK392-110's in the set so a good idea to replace both. The reason is one of the IC's is dedicated to RED horizontal and vertical and then GREEN horizontal, the other is dedicated to the BLUE horizontal and vertical and then the GREEN vertical. These are the best place to start for ghosting in the colors.
Try doing a reset of the TV first. On Panasonics this is done with the TV on and then pressing on the POWER and ACTION (on the fron of the TV only) buttons at the same time until the screen blanks out or a diagnostic screen appears. Once you do this all custom functions (color, tint, channel memory) will be back to factory defaults.
