Hitachi 43uwx10b after watching tv for about an hour the tv menu screen pops up for no reason. this happens periodically, daily. what can be causing this? we don't use our tv remote, we use our satelite remote so it can't be a problem with the remote.
this is driving me crazy!

sounds like one of the transistors attached to a heat sink shorted out. you will need to test each one with the tv unplugged. set the digital meter on diode. it`s not easy to explain the rest, sorry.
You can connect via a coax cable from the sat. box to VHF input of your TV and tune on ch 3 or 4 or connect via a RGB cable to component input of your TV or a regular Audio/Video composite cable will connect sat. receiver to your TV use yellow color for video and red&white for stereo Audio then choos the connected input on the menue and watch sat.
Playing video games on projection TV's is a very bad idea. It can cause damage to the picture tubes ("pattern burn"). Most projection TV manuals and video game manuals specifically mention you should not do this. Your husband is right.
Yes,it can be fixed...most likely the problem requires the
convergence IC's to be replaced....You can DIY if you are
mechanically sharp and able to solder well....Part(s) come in a kit for your 43UWX10B....................# X 480293........T.
Same problem but mine goes black for long periods. Menu prompts still available and volume "meter" on screen is still visible. Have rerouted cable, changed outlets, all to no avail.
