Question about Panasonic Palmcorder PV-DV102 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Chewing up mini-dv tapes

Palmcorder is having problems with mini-dv tapes. It either hangs up when a tape is inserted (ie. the power indicator blinks on and off and the palmcorder is non-responsive in either camera or video mode)... or when the tape is inserted the palmcorder chews up the tape... ive had it for 3 years and used it sparingly (special occassions maybe 2-3 times a year)... any ideas? can i open it up and tweak something... any help would be appreciated... thanks.

I haven't had any luck yet... and I don't want to pay $35-$40 just for them to diagnose the problem. I'd rather find an answer on what the issue is and then get a quote on how much it would cost to fix the problem afterwards.

I'm still hoping someone can shed some light on this

These type of problems usually result from damage to the tape transport mechanism, Unfortunately they are impossible to fully diagnose without a physical examination of the mechanism.
There is not a magic tweak for this i'm afraid.
Wish i could be more help

Palmcorder PV-DV402 doesn't work with tape inserted

Have you tried with different tapes ? Could be that this one is binding inside, and the camcorder cannot move it. Will it fast forward and rewind ?

Chewing tapes up terrible destruction on tapes

This is a clear sign that the DVCam tape path needs cleaning. Use a mini DV cleaning tape 2 or 3 times and if it still does not have any effect get it to a camera store for a professional clean.

hai, If you are service engineer you can do this problem, Please, check the cassette IN sensing Switch. The place of the Switch is right side of the mechanism, Clean S/w with IPA solution & check. It will be ok or other wise you have replace s/w or mechanism.
