As well as the normal 12 volt line form the ignition switch, there is a 'permanently on' 12 volt lead, which keeps the clock and memories going even when the ignition is turned off. It sounds like the installer has missed connecting this one.
It really depends on your radio but most of them you just go to the radio station you want and hold the number you would like it to program to for about 10 seconds
If "stereo won't work" refers to you not being able to get radio stations; try your antenna connection behind the radio. The vehicle may also have a power antenna connection(blue wire at the stereo).
This is a device that "Sends" FM stereo & Transmitts Radio waves, and sends sounds/music speech etc, over the airwaves to a suitable reciever an the same "Channel" You can hook up say your Ipod to it and say tune your Car radio to the "Station" it sends on and listen to ya compilations, in the car, thru the car stero system. The radio just "Sees" it as another strong station.
On the face of the stereo is a * button. Push this button then use the numbers on the face of the stereo to go directly to that station. Example, my favorite classical station is 90.7. Push the * then 907. This station will appear in display. Then push and hold for about 5 seconds the preset button you would like this station to be. The stereo will momentarily blink to a different station then come back. Station set.
