After using my computer I put it in stanby mode. Approximately 1 hour later, I went to start it and it would not turn on. It was not plugged in at the time, so I plugged it in. It still would not start. I removed the battery, nothing. I let it charge overnight and still NO POWER. There is no reset button and I have tried the HP customer support (using my other comp.) but I cant get connected. The computer had been operating fine until then. I had just recently installed internet explorer 7(which was a pain), I dont know what else to try. Any suggestions?
Last time I had that happen I had to replace my hard if you try what the other gentleman said and it dosent work find out the make and model of your hard drive and they useually have pretty good warranty and fair support you can useually get a diagnostic program for hard drive if you can get to the internet on another comp you can download and copy to floppy disk then go into your bios and change boot up sequence so it checks floppy first unless you dont have a floppy if not burn to cdrom disk and make cdrom first in boot up process.

Re:
Not to takeaway from the excellent posting from Sandrew but from your initial description I wasn't sure if you had removed the battery and at the same time disconnected the A/C power source and let sit for a few minutes. I typically disable both the suspend and hibernation modes by default on my users PCs but occasionally they reactivate it. This procedure usually solves the problem for me.

Re:
If you are able to get to the motherboard, can you locate the CMOS battery (flat 3V disc shaped battery).
If you are able to remove it for 10 minutes or so; or locate the 'JBAT1' terminals on the motherboard and move jumper or similair from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3 for a few seconds then back to pins 1-2.
Either of these should erase the bios settings which may be corrupt, stopping the boot up or bringing from standby.
I'm not sure if this will be possible for you to do as this is for normal desktop pc motherboards, although the proceedure will be the same.

I find sleep mode nothing but trouble, eventually corrupts window files over extended use, go into power options, go to stand by and select never and click apply, next go to hibernate "top right" and click, make sure the check box is clear, if not! remove check and click apply and restart your laptop.
The power supply or mother board probably went out. Did any other items in the house stop working? This happened to me years ago and the electric company reimbursed me for damages.
You can try unplugging the power cord for a few minutes, then retry listen for any beeps from the computer. If it is powering on but nothing on the screen and no beeps *********** board is probably toast.

My watch has 4 buttons (2 on the left, 2 on the right) plus the "Indiglo" button. Use the "Mode" button (lower left) to move between the time and the stopwatch. When seeing the stopwatch, hold the "Mode" button. This will get you to the alarm setting mode. Press the "Mode" button again to switch to the time setting mode. Use the "Start/Stop" button (upper right) to move from seconds > minutes > hour > date > day of week. Use the "Spl/Reset" button (lower right) to change the numbers.
i had the same problem with my 2 years old infocus lp600. on the mains section of the power supply board you have 4 100uF/16v and 1 4,7uF/35V electrolyt condenser of a 85 degree type. that means it will work 2000 hours at 85 degree (celsius). since the power supply only switch off the lamp in standby with no fan the power supply get hot- i think about 70 degree. so after two years in stanby it is evident that this condensers loose halve of their capacity - after switch off no new start. changing this condensers with new ones of 105 degree type will solve tis problem. and for the future - no more stanby.
