My iriver T10 will not allow me to add songs to it. I was able to initially load music onto it, however, now when I connect to my computer, I am told that my MP3 device is recognized, but when I try to xfer music to it, I cannot. When I look in Window Explorer under My Computer, I see the iriver T10 device. When I open it, instead of the music, recorded, voice, etc. folders that it normally has, all I see is FAT16 System. If I click on this, it hangs my Windows Explorer session (my wife has the same model of iriver and does not have this problem). Any advice? Many thanks.
The updater that I could find directly via iRiver support did not work, but based on one of the other tips, I googled for the Version 2.7.0.0 updater ([MTP] iriver Firmware Updater for MTP devices).

I recommend that you try the "normal" updater from the website (maybe yours is not an MTP version), and if that can't recognize your player, try the updater from the link above.
Note: The updater seemed to hang at 50% for over 5 minutes... I gave up and unplugged it. Then it asked me if I wanted to upgrade the firmware. "OK," I said. It took a few minutes. The screen went blank. I put in a fresh battery. Turned it on. It works. I was able to use Media player 11 to synch some songs to it.
BTW: It did blow away all the songs on the device, even though I chose "update" instead of "recover".

I have been using T10 firmware v. 1.23 since i bought my T10 about 2 years ago. Last night i experienced the same problem everybody else experienced. What changed was my computer, not my T10. With WinXP SP2 and WMP10 everything worked fine. Due to unfortunate circumstances w/ my PC, i had to upgrade to WinXP SP3 and WMP11. Now my T10 ran into problems.
Solution: Download iriver firmware updater 2.7.0.0 and update the T10's firmware to latest firmware. (for me I went from 1.23 to 1.77)
T10 works fine now

Try to re-format it. on player go to settings, then advanced then format. select format, say yes and it should reboot. if that doesn't work you need to upgrade the firmware. got to iriveramerica.com, support, ultra portabale support and download firmware updater software. Not a bad idea to upgrade firmware in either case. Your music will be lost when you format but you can simply re-load it from your music manager on your PC.

I have this same problem - where I used to be able to add things to my Iriver T10 - but now it comes up as FAT 16. I tried downloading the firmware, but it didn't recognize my device, so I couldn't get anywhere with that.
And, I can't find settings on my device. Doesn't seem to be there.
Any other suggestions? THank you.
My problem is whem i try to drag the music to my mp3 player a message will come up and say before proceading you must close Windows Media Player, but it was never open so do you have any suggestions?
i have the same. Anythingn i do from this website didn't help. I need help
Same problem as everyone else. The iriver T10 allowed me to add songs initially but now it says that the device is not recognized or is running to slow for files to be transfered. I have tried deleting all the music on the player and that didn't help, I also looked for troubleshooting on the official website which was no help.
