My arctica water dispenser is working fine but I'm not sure if the ice maker is getting water as it stopped filling up some time ago. I read that the solenoid might be a problem but is this so if I can get water?

I HAD no ice being made but I had water. I called into a radio on-air repair guy who told me it was probably the water inlet valve. I took the lower back of the fridge off and saw some device where the water source went in, then out to the filter, then back to the device, then into the fridge....and another line went to along the outside of the fridge into the freezer side of the fridge. I replaced this device for $55. I now have water (same as before) but instead of it shutting off quickly when you withdraw your glass, it dribbles on a half second or so. AND, I still have no ice.

With power on to the ice maker, I checked for Power-YES. I checked the Mold Heater - HEATER WAS OFF. I checked the Motor - MOTOR IS OFF. I checked the Thermostat - THERMOSTAT IS OPEN. I checked the Water Valve - WATER VALVE IS CLOSED.

    So now what?

Water dispenser works but ice maker gets no water and light for ice maker near the on off switch is blinking.

  • Anonymous Jul 15, 2008

the water valve is not stopping the water.

  • redneckprop0 Jul 30, 2008

The ice maker is not receiving water but the water dispenser is. I can not seem to figure out why the water is not going to the ice maker but is going to the water dispenser - they are right next to each other. When I disconnect the hose for the ice maker and turn the water back on it does not come out of the ice maker's water valve, but of course the water dispenser still works fine. I am so frustrated. What is going on and how can I fix it?

  • sclipner Aug 02, 2008

Same thing, no water getting to the icemaker. I see the water just at the top of the line on the back of the refrigerator, but still not getting water to maker. Checked all the lines they are ok, checked power to valves, they are getting power. Icemaker motor seems to be working.

If the ice maker solenoid valve is letting water pass (check that for sure) then there is the high probability that the fill tube is frozen. Check this diagram out to follow the tubing. http://tinyurl.com/y6qyu4

Also check the bin full arm as the spring will jump off and not let the ice maker work.

That happened to us--it turned out that we just needed to replace the water filter. The filter is expensive--around $40 every time you replace it.

sounds more like the heater in the ice maker is bad. The cycles of the ice maker are: 1. water comes in to fill ice maker. 2. water freezes in ice maker making. 3. heater comes on to help ice release. 4. motor comes on to eject the ice and start all over again. if the heater doesn't come on the ice will not eject. replacing the icemaker is typically what needs to be done in this case.

This also happened after I changed the water filter. The small black rubber tube that fills the tray was plugged with ice. Instead of hot wash cloths I used a hair drier for a couple of minutes.

My lg refrigerator lsxs26326 is dispensing water but not filling ice tray up. What could be wrong?

the water solenoid valve for the water dispenser is separate from the icemaker water supply solenoid valve . get to the icemaker water supply solenoid and test it if it works alright . unplug the fridge from wall outlet do not close water supply valve. disconnect water tube connection on the water discharge side of the icemaker water supply solenoid valve . pull - out power supply connection of the solenoid coil . connect solenoid valve directly to wall outlet. a faint click should be audible and water should come out from where the tube was removed -- from the water supply discharge side. if no water is coming out with the solenoid plug in , then the solenoid is faulty. but if water comes while solenoid is powered -on , check the position of the icemaker lever. if it is on off position icemaker timer won't activate icemaker water supply valve..move icemaker lever to on and check for water pouring into the icemaker tray' if no water comes out . change the icemaker timer. thanks.

Maytag ice maker quit making ice

www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIHLyOn3Ht0

Check youtube.com for how to videos like the one above. Basically, if your icemaker is not refilling with water, your water valve may be faulty. Pretty much it's either that or a blocked/clogged filter, or the icemaker itself. There are plenty of websites to get replacement parts at a reasonable price. Neither the icemaker or water valve are that difficult to replace.

My ice maker has quit working. The water is not filling the tray.

Pour 1/2 cup of water into icemaker . If it dumps the cubes when frozen , then check the fill tube going into the icemaker , to see if it is frozen solid . If it is , remove and clean and replace water valve ( drip seeping ) . If not frozen , replace the wqter valve anyway . If the icemaker doesn't dump the cubes , and holds the frozen ice , replace the icemaker , after making sure the coils under fridge are free of dust , lint , pet hair etc.The icemaker needs to be 5 degrees to operate , and , dirty coils could bring the temp up to 6 or higher in the freezer section .

Icemaker quit working after I cleaned the coils.

After checking the fill tube (line that fills the icemaker) to make sure it's not frozen , pour about 3/4 cup of water into the icemaker . If the icemaker dumps the water but doesn't refill , replace the water inlet valve . If the icemaker doesn't dump the ice , replace the icemaker . ALSO , make sure the fan which cools the compressor is working . Possible when cleaning the coils , a glob of lint or something , was sucked into the fan and blocked the blade from turning .

Icemaker not getting water

have you checked the fill tube on top of the ice maker for a ice clog? If so that usually indicates that the water solinioids in the back side are leaking thru the seal and are constantly letting water past the valve.

Ice Maker not Getting Water

There are two solenoid-operated water valves - one for the water dispenser and one for the icemaker. They're located near the water connection at the back of the fridge. There is no pump; the water pressure sends water to the icemaker whenever this valve is opened by the icemaker controls. Your symptoms sound like the coil is burned out on the valve. You can check it by disconnecting the wires and checking for coil continuity with an ohmeter. If the coil is open, replace the valve. Both valves might be combined into one assembly, so be sure you test both coils. Of course it's also possible that the trouble is in the icemaker itself, but a failed intake valve is more likely.
