I had same problem. Solution was very easy. I checked the S-video cable connectors. One of the connectors had a broken pin inside it's housing. I immediately replaced the old cable with a monster cable...I instantly had color.

Ok they have 4 causes. 1.laser lens 2.flex ribbon wire 3.video drive 4.change motherboard. OR CHECK THE PALSECAM AND NTSC SELECTION ON YOUR REMOTE CONTROL. THAT IS FIRST IMPORTANT! CHECK YOUR SYSTEM (PAL or NTSC).

My dvd's play in black & white. cant get any color in pitures.

Hello,

There are three types of display settings. 1 PAL, 2, NTSC and 3, Auto.

The pal and auto makes a display show color while the NTSC allow a display show in black and white but sometimes NTSC also shows color. It is possible that the display format on the movie is NTSC.

To fix this problem, play the movie that shows black and white. When the movie shows in black and white, press PAL/NTSC or P/N on the remote control and it should display in color.

Or Go to the player menu, check video or display setting, change it to Auto.

Problem should be fixed because that's where it lies....

But if it doesn't solve the problem, please let me know so that I may direct you further on what next to do.

I hope you understand the above.

Good luck.

DVD Player won't play movies in color

It could be the av cables being faulty or shorted. Try replacing them with another set and see if it goes away.
