My Proform 860 treadmill is stuck in a fully raised incline position permanently. I am not mechanical, but was wondering how I can lower the incline & use the treadmill without it.

SOURCE: Proform 740CS runs okay but the incline does not

ProForm Treadmills have a reset procedure for the incline function. With the key inserted in the console, activate the incline; while the incline is changing, remove the key. Wait 30 seconds, then replace the key. The incline should to maximum, then to minimum, resetting its limits. It worked for mine just 10 minutes ago; the procedure is in the manual if you have it. Good luck!

The only way is loosening the screw or nut and making it back manually, but it is the right way to fix it, you should review the KEYPAD, specifically the down key. tries to do the following: turn it off and rub the area where the key now is turn it on again if it does not work with you to replace that part

try thisSometimes incline motors will get frozen in position and need broke free. Try this:
take the motor cover off and take the screw out of the bottom of the incline motor that is attached to the screw assembly. Once you remove the screw you should be able to break the incline motor free. run the incline up and down with the screw still off( laying the treadmill on its side may make this easier). Once it goes up and down (hold the screw so it goes in and out) reattach it then run the calibration described below. If it was just stuck it should work fine.

1. remove safety key
2. press and hold the speed+ and stop keys at the same time
3. Put the safety key in/on and release the keys
4. press stop once
5. hit the incline + arrow and let the incline go the whole way up and down
6. remove safety key and try

If these instructions do not work to fix the incline motor
check your main harness running down the right leg for breaks in the wires or a loose connection if nothings found you can switch the red and black wires on the incline motor terminal block and see if it goes down. If it does you know you are only getting voltage to one side of the motor. There is a schematic under the motor hood that tells you what the voltage should be when you press the up or down keys. Use a multi-meter to see if you are getting the correct voltage coming from the console to the motor control board and then from the board to the motor. If no voltage from console-replace console if you have voltage from console but not from board - replace board and finally if you have voltage from console and from board replace motor. You will need to test the voltage both when pressing the up key and the down key.

Take the cover off and inspect the wiring. Make sure all the wires from the incline motor are connected.
If all the wires are connected and everything looks OK, try the incline again.
There are only 3 wires on the incline motor, red, white and black. This machine does not rely on any electronics to operate the incline. We know the motor works, because it will go up..Likely the switch in the console is defective.
To lower the incline, reverse the black and red wires, that will make up go down and vice versa.. If that doesn't work, the motor is likely defective.
The incline motor is available, around $110. To order find the model number on the frame of the treadmill and call the service number found there. Have your model number ready (starts with "P").
The console is no longer available.

How to i fold it into the space saver option

Make sure the incline is at its lowest point 1. Hold the treadmill with your hands on each side of the frame at back of treadmill To decrease the possibility of injury, bend your legs and keep your back straight. As you raise the treadmill, make sure to lift with your legs rather than your back. Raise the treadmill about halfway to the vertical position. 2. Move your right hand to hold the treadmill firmly in the upright position. Using your left hand, pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Raise the treadmill until the latch pin is aligned with the hole in the catch. Insert the latch pin into the catch. Make sure that the latch pin is fully inserted into the catch.

Under the hood there should be a tech sheet with calibration instructions. I have not worked on these for several years or I would rattle off the procedure. If the sheet is still there make sure you put it back in the plastic sleeve for next time..... Eric
