Look to see if lamp is shattered inside or if it even comes on for a few moments at turn on.

Suspects are:

Lamp

Lamp Ballast

Dirty fans and dirt on air channels in the set.

Picture and sound come on for about 10secs. then all off

with Sony this is an indication the lamp is going out, could be no outward appearance that the lamp is bad.

Blinking green reset light

Can you please supply us with the make and model as well as the blink count of the green light. That count should be indicating the problem circuit. Once that info is posted, we should be able to give you more details and possible solutions.

No picture

If you have sound and no picture, I would first check your lamp this is most likely your problem . Sometimes even if the lamp appears not to be blown it is still not functioning. Let me know if this helps and we can go from there.

Blue screen with Green Star-burst image in center?

Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.

For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.

Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:

12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
