Question about Singer 7468 Mechanical Sewing Machine
When I turn in the machine on it just gives me a beeping sound and will not run. Whant do you think is wrong with it? I was using it fine and all of a sudden this occured. I have checked evrything to no avail. The machine is on;y 2 months old. Thank you.
When I had this experience I cleaned the thread path under the plastic cover. There was a piece of thread caught between the disks.

Your problem is most certainly with the buttonhole switch. Firstly: Look if the buttonhole lever, left back of machine, is push up in position. The beeping sound is a warning message. Secondly Remove the light cover, left of the machine, loosen back screw and remove left hand screw completely. Check for a small black electric switch, follow the brown and green elecrtic wire, just back of the light. If you push the BH lever up and down the switch finger should also move up and down. If it stays down, the machine will not work and give a beeping sound. If the switch finger is stuck, push it up with the BH in top position. Hope this will help you

Sounds like you may have a blockage somewhere in the bobbin area that needs cleaning as this is normally what happens when it gets jammed. Reverse sewing can sometimes cause jams. Remove bobbin area and reassemble.

I looked at your manual and I don't see it listed. But, I would call Singer at 1-800-4singer customer service and ask, that is very strange. I think you may have to pop off the little white cover and loosen the screw on the top side of the machine, but I am not sure. Call them, they are very helpful. Good luck

I looked at your manual (www.singerco.com, customer service) and page 82 gives some good suggestions on tension, I usually use 3 or auto, then you stitch length may be too long. I ended up using metal bobbins on my machine because the plastic ones seemed to jump too much for me. I am not sure if your machine takes a 15 or 15J bobbin. If it is the 15J, I know that a SA 156 does the trick for me. I hope that will help you in some way. If not, call Singer at 1-800-4singer and ask them. . Good luck
