Got an M240 for Christmas. Daughter has one for a couple of months and hasn't had any problems. I loaded a few CD's onto it (via Explorer per the quickstart manual). Started deleting them so I replace them with smaller files. Got most removed but realized I couldn't delete all of them and the M240 showed no files in Explorer. They were on the player but Explorer showed the player to be empty. I got *real* smart and thought I'd just delete the Music folder (and thereby its contents) and then recreate the folder in Explorer. I was able to delete the folder, but the songs were still in the player and it would not let me create the Music folder. Is there a way to reboot the M240 and start over?

Put the player in MSC mode,Plug into your computer, open My Computer,(The player will show as a drive)Open up the player, open the folders and delete what you want deleted. Then when you want to add more songs,Open it the same way as above and drag and drop them. You do NOT need to use a media player to load or remove items. And Please rate this solution.
i had the same problem, the only solution is to reformat your mp3 player, when you explore, right click on "sansa m240" then click "reformat" once this is dont, it will deleat all your songs on the device. the sandisc support line is 1-866-726-3475 or you can contact me at www.freewebs.com/mixedjujitsu
actually i had somthing liek that ahppen to me mine played 3 songs that had been deleted i still have not figured it out so i bought a Zune ^_^
but fullmetal you go to your computer there is this thing called
removable disk (:E) and you will have a couple folders in there you want to click music and it shoudl show all of the songs that are in there, then you just delete the songs
The sansa has two USB modes. If you load tracks in one mode you have to be in the same mode to see them in explorer and also be able to delete them. Took me ages to figure this out. From the main menu, go to Settings then select USB and toggle between "MSC" and "Auto Detect". You should then be able to see the hidden tracks. I have firmware 2.2.5A installed so you might want to check that too.
I now only use the Sansa in MSC mode as it seems to crash Winamp if I use it in Autodetect.
Im having this exact same problem. I must have added them the wrong way when I first got it. Now, all are earsed but 60 songs. I cant get rid of them for nuthin. I need help too.Its really frustrating.
