Question about Sony VAIO PCV-W20 PC Desktop
When I power up the display tries to come up, will stay on intermittently for a moment, and then goes dark. I can see an image very faintly, almost as if it's burned in, but it is an image of the currently running program. I tried hitting f8 as it starts up, but that has no effect. I normally just log out and leave the unit on all of the time, and there is a screen saver running. The problem arose when I was away for a few days.
If you can see the moving image faintly then it sounds like a problem with the backlight on the screen. Backlights can fail, but usually a cause is an impact of some kind.

If the microwave runs for a few seconds and then shuts off, a door switch might have failed intermittently. Check each of the door switches for any signs of overheating, arcing, or burning. Also check each of them for continuity. Replace any of the switches that is visibly damaged or that only has continuity intermittently

display is working and some of the buttons respond correctly but
some don't, the problem is with the touchpad.
