When I first start up my system I get a warning screen telling me that the power source cannot be identified. It tells me to hit either the F1, F2 or F3 buttons according to what I want to do. THen when system is on it won't charge the battery. If Both battery and power cord is inserted it runs off of battery instead of power cord. Will not charge Battery.
Your AC Adapter Power Cord is bad based on what you are telling in your request for help. You need to replace the AC Adapter Power Cord.
You can further isolate and verify by the following steps:
If you remove the battery, and plug in the power cord, but the computer will not boot up or work, then the power cord is bad.
If you have them both plugged in and you are running off the battery then the power cord is bad and it is not charging the battery. Eventually your laptop is not going to power on because the battery will be drained and cannot be recharged until you get a working Power Cord.

Hello,
This problem has arised because your motherboard hasn't identified your battery. So, this is motherboard problem.
next time when you chat with the dell representatives, tell them that your motherboard is not recognizing your battery. They would arrange a pickup and would have it repaired in their center.
Good luck,
~regards,
Jegan

I updated the BIOS and it shouldn't be the battery as this system is only 8 weeks old. I called Dell and they said this issue isn't covered underr warranty even though the first time I recieved this message the system was only 2 weeks old. Updating the BIOS did not fix the issue. :(
