Question about Computers & Internet
Hello I use Acer Aspire one 6920g with Kubuntu 12.04. My problem is: The Built-in microphone does not work, most interestingly, web camera itself works perfectly. Thanks in advance.
Have you checked the webcam software to make sure you have the volume turned up for the microphone? Get online
and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Acer
Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support).
Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating
system when requested. Download and install the webcam drivers. Try using ManyCam. It comes with drivers and software to drive it.
You can always download Manycam and install it. Go to
www.google.com and in the search box type: "download.cnet.com"
(without the quotes). Click on the link to go to the site. When the
site opens look down on the left and you will see a gray area that says Find
Software. Type "Manycam" (without the quotes) in the white
search area then hit the search mirror. When it brings back your results
look for the one that says ManyCam Virtual Webcam. Down load it and
install it. Make sure you remove the check box on any junky programs it
would like to install. You only want to install ManyCam, no additions
whatsoever during the install. ManyCam is totally FREE and easy to use,
and you will always know where your webcam software is. You can also visit their site to see how to use it
when ever you want to skype or use some other function that requires the
webcam. http://www.manycam.com
You could try downloading and reinstalling the webcam driver.

If the sound has worked on this machine after the new hard drive was installed, then all you need to do is a system restore from the start menu, acessories/system tools. You may need to go back a couple of restore point in order to get it back, but this should do the trick. If it hasn't worked since the new hard drive was installed, then ou will need to go to the manufacturer's support site and download the drivers.

I have same problem. I downloaded the latest webcam driver, installed it. Everything is fine, in the device manager the device are present. But when i try to load the webcam application from dell the device is not present or not installed appear.
Notice: if I try the YM webcam, the device work properly - that's mean the device driver is OK.
So the E6500 is a beautiful great notebook, with poor software.
