I would still suspect the top door switch. You would need to operate the switch to see if it clicks both ways and ultimately a test with a meter is required. If you don't have a meter, you can connect wires to a battery and a flashlight bulb, etc., and use that as a continuity tester. On the door switch, COM is common, NO is normally open, and NC (if present) is normally closed.
