I do not think the model listed here has either a HDMI or a DVI---if trying to connect a HD signal to the set it must be connected via the DTV input which is component but HD.

SOURCE: HDMI to DVI UPSCALING Problem

The Digital Visual Interface (DVI) is a video interface standard designed to maximize the visual quality of digital display devices such as flat panel LCD computer displays and digital projectors. It was developed by an industry consortium, the Digital Display Working Group (DDWG). It is designed primarily for carrying uncompressed digital video data to a display. It is partially compatible with the HDMI standard in digital mode (DVI-D). So yes it should work fine

What kind of DVI cable is needed to connect to a SOYO DYLM1988 monitor DVI input with Laptop HDMI output?

You don't say from what to what? Questions like this need
'make model (what it is)' for both items. However DVI is normally a Computer Monitor and there is only one type of cable. When you connect, the monitor see the computer as the source. Sometimes you need to go to the computer Display Settings and select DVI.

Using with a laptop

Connection the monitor depends on the connections you have out of your Toshiba laptop.

The monitor has both VGA and DVI.

If the Toshiba has a VGA out, all you need is a VGA cable available online, computer or electronics store.

If the Toshiba has an HDMI out, you can connect it to the DVI on the monitor with an HDMI cable and an HDMI to DVI Adapter.

You can also use USB out with either a VGA converter or a DVI converter (go with DVI for the better picture). Converters can be found online at Amazon, you may also need a standard male to male DVI cable to use with the converter.

How to connect the HDMI Cable from monitor to Computer which has no HDMI ports?

Hi there,

You need a purchase a new cable. I assume your HP pavilion is under 5 years old. And you should have a white DVI port in the back for a monitor. If you do have that connector, then all you need is a DVI - HDMI cable, make sure the DVI will be to the computers end and HDMI to the monitor.

for example this cable:

How do you connect LG W2261 VP Monitor to HP Pavilion 6310uk Desktop

The computer has VGA, DVI-I (dual link) and HDMI ports. The monitor has VGA, DVI and HDMI but only came with a VGA cable. Some computers have recently come with shielding covering all of the ports except the one that is currently live. Thus, check your hardware; the computers I've seen with only one active port, the HDMI port was active before resetting the video options. So get an HDMI cable (it will provide the best signal in addition). If the DVI-I port is currently live, you should get that cable as well and then change the settings to enable the HDMI port.

I hope this helps.

(you do not need to get the super-expensive cables; the low end ones will be fine. However a single link DVI cable is not the same as a dual link cable; sometimes using the wrong cable leads to no signal to the monitor.)

Cant get hdmi to work

What device are you connecting to the TV? Are you using an HDMI to HDMI cable or a DVI to HDMI cable (or another adapter in the cable or between the cables)?

Try using a different cable. Try connecting the source device to another TV. Basically, you want to see whether the TV's HDMI input is bad, the device output is not active, or if the cable is bad (or an adapter attached to the cable is bad). Adapters are likely failure points. If you are using a DVI to HDMI cable, check your cable and device specs. Single-link and dual-link DVI are different and not interchangeable when attached to an HDMI cable end.

I hope this helps.

(some computers (esp. laptops) will have external video ports turned off by default and you need to turn them on before you try to send the output to an external monitor (TV).)

How do I hook up the moniter to the CPU?

First figure out what output video the computer has. These days it can be VGA, DVI, or HDMI. Then determine what video inputs are on the monitor (same list). Then plug in the desired cable. Many monitors only come with the VGA cable. If you do not have a VGA port on the computer you would need a DVI to VGA adapter to use that cable. Otherwise buy the DVI or HDMI cable. (DVI to HDMI cables exist if you have HDMI but no DVI on the monitor and only DVI on the computer. However, you need to check your video specs closely. A Single link DVI is different than Dual-link DVI and the cables are not interchangeable.)

Once the data and power cords are plugged in, power up the monitor and then the computer. The computer should find the new hardware and install (or ask for a disc to install) the drivers.

I hope this helps.

Im trying to use my TV as my monitor for my pc?

What problem are you having? The connection should be fairly straight forward depending on your computer's video out. You can use a VGA cable, DVI to HDMI (check your graphics card manual for single link or dual link on the DVI side), or component video (even S-video). If you have HDMI out on the video card, use an HDMI cable. If you want to connect to the TV's speakers, you need at least an 3.5 mm audio cable (or 3.5 mm to RCA audio).

The DVI cable can be either a DVI to HDMI cable or DVI to DVI or HDMI to HDMI with a DVI to HDMI adapter at one or the other end.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(you will need to go through the input modes to find the signal. Some TVs need to be on (with no signal) before the computer is turned on.)

Can i connect a dvid cable from the monitor to my flat screen tv hdmi to watch videos from my computer? Thank you Martin

the Flat Screen TV if has, a HDMI input, also has VGA Input.

You must choose :HDMI or VGA, if HDMI The VGA board must Have HDMI Connector, and you connect a HDMI cable to the TV.

The HDMI is a digital signal input/output, VGA is Analog Signal. You must have Signal Converter if you Use the 2 signals

My monitor says cable not connected

If it like my monitor, same hookups as yours, then when you want to use the hdmi port you need to disconnect the dvi cable. The monitor cannot read from hdmi & dvi when both are connected, Try this & see if your PS3 works. Good luck

Connecting an LCD TV to a computer to use as TV and Comp. Monitor.

Im no expert on the subject, but I use my L37 for a monitor, and use just the vga adapter. It works good as a monitor, and both dvds and my hdtv wonder tuner card look great through the vga connection. They do make adapters for dvi to hdmi. Although, hdmi also carries sound, but you wont get that out of your dvi output from your card. So you might not have sound when using that connection, as your tv may not look to the headphone type jack used for sound imput from your computer when you select the hdmi source on it. If you have speakers already connected to your computer you may not care. Also if you have a 720 p Vizio, 1366x768 is the highest resolution you are going to get out of it anyway, if I'm not mistaken. I'm Not sure why you would need 2 connectios to the same monitor either. I posted 1 link below because they had several dvi to hdmi adapters. Hope that helps.
