Can't install my hp4250tn printer

on the print page just before printing , go to properties and make black the default color

I have the same printer, and I just re-installed it a few days ago. I had just performed a clean re-installation of my Windows operating system to clear up my slow machine.
Assuming there's basically nothing wrong with your printer, I suggest that you un-install your printer, then download and reinstall the driver software like I did. Print this solution out while your printer is still working, & follow these directions.
First, follow this link to get to the HP software for your printer (Copy & Paste it into your browser's address bar):

Choose the appropriate Operating System for your computer from the drop-down menu.
Click on: Driver-Product installation software
Next, click:"HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers" link.
Next, Close out the "Your Input is valuable" popup window, should it appear.
Next, click on the link after "File Name:" to begin download. "Save File"
Now you have the most up-to-date drivers for your C6180 for your re-installation!
Now unplug your printer from power and USB connection to your computer.
Go to your Start menu, then Control Panel & select Add or Remove Programs & remove all programs related to your HP.
You should now have your old driver software un-installed. Now run the new Software that you downloaded and saved. It will take about an hour. Do not plug in your printer's power & USB cable until prompted by the installation software! If you select all the options available for installation, I'm confident that you will have included the scanner & Fax functions.

Go to Control panel > Printer and device (win7) or Printers and faxes (win xp)
right click on your printer > properties > Device setting
locate Installable Option to Black ( seems to me your colour cartridge empty or has been refilled)
apply > ok.
Next Go to control panel > add/remove program > locate HP solution center > uninstall

Before you install that's software driver for DELL 962 photo all in one inkjet printer for that website.
Uninstall first your old software driver installation, then restart your PC.
Finish restarting your PC, install software driver for DELL website.

Select your operating system and your language from the pull down menus.

Then click on 'Search'.

Under the heading 'Full Driver & Software Package' click on 'Download & Information\'.

On the page that comes up there are instructions telling you how to download and install the drivers.

Click on the 'Download' button and follow the instructions on the page.

Try and reset the power to the printer and re-install check the toner cartridge. If this doesn't help then please try and reset the printer to default factory settings. Y?? ??n reset ???r Dell printer by using 'Reset Dell Printer' icon. Y?? ??n g?t t? th?? icon in folder 'UAN'--> 'Logic Utilities' -->Reset Dell Printer. Hope this helps...
