Sound Problem This TV is about 7 years old. In the last few months, the sound starts to fad away after 20 to 30 minutes of operation, picture is still fine, TV fully fuctional in every other way. You have to keep turning up the volume until the sound disappears altogether. The problem is internal to the TV and not a function of the source (normally cable) as the problem is still present on VCR playback. Any suggestions? Ed

I might have been expecting too much, however, I was hoping someone would tell me precisely what component (by nomenclature, part number) I needed to replace.

If you are feeding the VCR signal into the antenna connector, then you could have a problem with the sound circuit drifting off frequency. If you are feeding the VCR signal into an "A-V" jack then you could have a problem with the audio amplifier inside your set. The circuit board would have to be tested to determine where the exact problem is located. Stargazer

Our LG tv has started making a vibrating whistling sound when you first cut it on, you can hear it get faster and faster then slowly goes away.. Also over the past few months I've notices the picture

the picture getting darker means the lamp has aged and u need to replace it another thing u need ti replace the mirrors in the light tunnel of the light engine they have faded secondly the noise means the colour wheel has aged you need to replace it u will have to replace the whole light engine cos the color wheel comes inbuilt the light engine and u will be ok ontact lg dealer in your area

Our tv is about 3 years old. We are a Time Warner cable customer. About 2 months ago we started to notice that the picture took a ong time to appear after turning on the set. The sound played for about...

I'm sure this is fairly easy to repair. It sounds likely to be a power supply problem, possibly due to bad capacitors. Your original symptoms of no picture were likely to be the backlight controller not having sufficient power to operate correctly. Ideally you should have it looked at and repaired then because leaving it to get worse may well have caused additional component failure. Get it checked by a reputable TV repair engineer.

Zenith 27" TV

I sorry to say I think you have a component failing that is related to heat. 15 years is a long time and if the TV was used in hpot conditions over the years it may well be the proble, or it's just old.

Picture is gone! :*(

the picture tube (what makes the TV picture work) has blown out. Just call you nearest tv reapair shop and purchase a new one. (these are kind of expensive!)

(Also, if it's fifteen years old, i think it's time to get a new T.V. hint. hint.)
