Panasonic ES45V DVD Recorder

I just got my mother a Panasonic ES45V DVD Recorder/VCR Combo for Christmas so it is brand new. The problem is that the unit shuts down within 20-30 seconds after I insert any kind of DVD into the unit. Anything, whether it be blank, recorded or copyrighted. Is there a setting I"m missing? Other than that, the unit remains on as long as no media is inside. Thanks

My remote is not working. When I press a button, I get the following message on my unit: U12, U30, SET #, CHK REMOTE #, or RC #. What can I do to fix this? The message displayed means that the remote control and unit are not communicating and the remote needs to be programmed. To program the remote, press and hold the same number that is displaying on the unit and the [ENTER] or [OK] button for more than 2 seconds. For example, if the unit displays “SET 2”, press and hold [2] and [ENTER] or [OK] for more than 2 seconds.

Panasonic DMR-ES30V DVD / VCR Combo Recorder - where can I buy another? If I have to buy latest model, will it finalise DVD's made on the above model?

You may be able to find an identical model for this combo unit on eBay or similar, otherwise if you do end up purchasing a new unit (for example a DMR-EZ48V which is a Panasonic) - you cannot finalise discs recorded on one model in a different one, and I doubt you would be able to even on an identical model, since there would be variations in their digital control circuitry.

This is why recorded DVDs must be finalised in the drive they were written in to enable compatible playback in standard players. You cannot change recording models or drives prior to finalising.

The manual for my DVD-V3500 says that you can't record from DVD to the VCR. But, can you record from the VCR to a DVD?

In short, no. Not with this unit on its own. No function for recording from or copying to DVDs exists with this brand/model.

A separate DVD recorder is required. I don't know of anyone who records DVDs to tape these days.

You are correct; the manual states clearly you cannot record from the DVD deck in this machine, which is a bit unusual, considering other brands of combos such as LG, SONY and PANASONIC offered an input (which was between channels or could be selected via remote) to allow DVD to VHS recording within the one unit.

I would presume you can connect this combo to the input of a DVD recorder, play a videotape and it will work via cables. DVDs last longer than tapes anyway.

When I place a dvd in my Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder / VCR Combo, it apparently does not ''sense? it and indicates it ?no disc?. Any Suggestions?

hi, make sure you read the manual' to use the right disc.some can only record on few brand disc's name's only.hope that help.

Panasonic dmres30v dvd/vcr combo total dead no clock desplay ,power ,could it be a fault in power supply sections ?

This could be down to one single component, a swollen looking capacitor. Normally 630uF capacitor on the power/digital board, located under the rear of the Ram drive. Tell me, did this failure happen afer you unplugged the unit?

I have a Panasonic combo DVD VHS player/recorder... model # DMR-ES45V. When I try to use the remote, the DVD player window says "Set 1" and the remote will not work. I don't know what Set 1 means. I can...

Hold down the "1" and the "Enter" buttons together for about 10 seconds. This worked for me.

DVD Recorder/VCR combo shuts down during DVD recording

If the device is still under warranty then it is worth calling and getting a repair/replacement. If not, then go with the new unit. it sounds like the one you have was not a very good unit to begin with. make sure you read the consumer reports on new available units before buying, so as to avoid buying another lemon.
