The picture is too dark. I was told it could possibly be the foam around the lens is getting old and shrinking allowing light in?
There is something I remember and it may be the model you have---Mitsubishi can tell you or you can look for yourself----a few models made at about the time this set was made had 2 mirrors----one a tiny one that faces up and reflects the picture into the large rear mirror.
Dumb idea--the little mirror gets coated with dust and brightness drops up to 70%---
The safe and correct way to know is to remove the entire front screen with its frame---both mirrors (if yours has 2) will be easy to see.
The large mirror hangs at a angle and down so it never gets dirty--don't even think of touching it or using glass cleaner on it--any mark on it will show in the picture.
let me know if you want to remove screen unit to see if one mirror or two---a call to mitsubishi would answer that.
Testimonial: "I would like to know how to remove the screen"
Process is similar to lamp replacement---
You first have to remove the entire grill beneath the screen on front---
With it off you will see another inspection plate dead center below the screen(4 screws) with it off you will see a bundle of wires coming from front keyboard with a plug in line--unplug the plug.
From the rear of the set there are about 15 screws that secure the frame with the screens in------there are two more up front on bottom (one on either side--back them out a bit but do not remove.
Leave one of the rear screws in place until ready to lift the screen unit (two person job)
With all the rear screws now out pull out slightly and lift entire screen unit free with plug and wires you unplugged.
The screen unit rests on the two front screws---when you move it avoid twisting it as you can actually pop the screens out of the frame----set it safely aside so nothing touches the inside of the screens.
Look down to see if the tiny mirror is there---if it is you can vac all the dust away and it can safely be cleaned with glass cleaner.
The rear mirror should not be cleaned and any marks from fingers or hair will show---a special cleaner is needed if you smudge it (or a lens cloth) 99 out of a 100 times it will not require any service.
The round lens you see at the bottom (2-3 inches in diameter) is the projection lens---wipe with a lens cloth.
If you find the second small mirror it is your problem.
Reverse the process---lift the frame up and stand it in the two front screws and slowly replace and hand tighten them---do not use screw gun as you can strip the plastic holes out.
Let me know what you find and or if you have questions.
If that little mirror is there and dirty its going to look like a new TV after you clean it.

The WD62825 has a Digital Module located on the left side of the chassis looking at it from the rear of the set. It's housed in a metal box that can slide out of its holder after removing the trim screws.
The module has its own power supply board and there are a group of 16v/1000uf caps on that board which commonly fail causing the constant flashing standby light. Further back on the module is a small board about the size of a matchbook called the E2P module. Its SMT (Surface Mount Technology) caps also commonly fail which can cause the same symptoms. Techs can tell whether the E2P has failed by simply removing it, hooking the DM back up and trying to power the set. If it powers on the picture won't be much good - but at least you can tell what's keeping it down...
Back to the caps on the pwr board. If they've failed they usually will buldge visibly on top. And ESR is almost not necessary. In any event that's the nuts and bolts on this model.
Is it a job for a layman? Yes and no - you might strongly consider a tech if you don't feel comfortable removing all the connections that the DM has with the signal board. There are about six - multi-pin - wired connections to unplug and then sliding the DM out of the unit and carefully removing the screws and latching to take the DM top cover off...
Hope this helps.

Had the same problem. Service replaced the lamp engine. It did help.

If the green front panel LED blinks continuously and the TV never comes on, its an issue with the "DM" board. When these TVs are first plugged in, the green LED should blink for 30 sec. to a minute or so. This is the TV booting up, reading its software. Mitsubishi has been having problems with this circuit for several years. In may cases the only permanent solution is to have the chassis rebuilt by Mitsubishi at considerable cost and inconvience. The chassis may have to be sent back to Mits for this rebuild. Call Mits and ask for help.

Yes i would like to know how to remove the screen
WOW, thank you so much for your expertise. I did exactly what you suggested. I called a buddy and had him come over to help me lift off the front screen. I seen the little mirror and it had years of dust on it.I took the vacuum attachment and got rid of the dust and then went over it with a lens cloth. Re-assembled the screen and what an amazing picture it has. I am very impressed with your expertise. There was a message that popped up on the screen telling me the Air- flow is being blocked and it would shut down but now its working fine. Once again thank you very much.
