No video output

I have a second hand samsung syncmaster 710N LCD monitor. After connecting power and data cable properly, i turn on my pc. But there's nothing picture's come out. The power green LED is on. Could u tell me what would be the possible fault? If i repair this problem, does it cost alot? Thanks in advance..

I received 2 of these monitors as new/unused excess from another Federal contract. When you connect them to the computer, they display a message about the screen resolution not being optimal. They call for 1280 x 1024 at 60 MHz. Then they do nothing else. I have tried setting the computer to that resolution (using another monitor that worked fine) and also adjusted the hertz setting and reconnected the Samsung monitors but they still did nothing but display the same message which scrolls across the screen. If disconnected from the computer they display nothing which I presume means that they are receiving a signal from the computer and can at least recognize that fact. I have tried this on quite a few different computers and have switched the video cable to try some other ones but still get nothing. I am running Windows XP 2.2. Any thoughts on this? I hope I have not gotten two duds.

I have the same monitor connected to my wife's computer. Here's what I did and it worked!
1. Disconnect the monitor cable from the computer. If the check signal cable message comes on, the monitor should be ok.
2. LEAVE THE MONITOR POWER SWITCH ON..DO NOT TURN IT OFF. Unplug the power cable from the back of the monitor and wait about 30 seconds.
3. Plug the signal cable back into the computer.
4. Plug the power cable back into the monitor.
5. Hopefully this will work!
If you do the standard turn the monitor off and then unplug the power cable, it doesn't fix the problem. You have to LEAVE THE POWER SWITCH ON ON THE MONITOR. Somehow this resets it...at least on mine.

Please let me know if this works on any of those monitors.
