A high pitch sound can be a capacitor losing power it would sound a bit like a fire work. most have back up on the board but it put more pressure on them the more times you use the tv. would check them and replace. all of them can be 5 in a row in some models.

No guarantees with this diagnosis. But it sounds like an HT ( high tension) leak This is often caused by the lead becoming partly unplugged ( being bumped or moved) and because of dust buildup it arcs making a high pitched hissing whistle.Ther lamp may also have been affected by the HT leak. The safest option for you is to call a service technician to it, as opening it up could cosntitute a a danger to the unskilled.

Sounds like the power supply is making that noise. At this point I would just exchnage the TV.

Your set is shorted circuit condition. The power supply is making the noise. Unfortunately almost any of the hi current circuits will do this. If picture went out 1st look for video or hi voltage problems.

Rarely picture tube also shows the same symptom. High pitch sound is due to through deflection area LOT power supply is loaded. Compulsary horizontal output transister short. From your statement i think Lot puncture takes place. Change LOT and horizontal output transister and check tv is now working.

I'm having the same exact problem with mine! I'm looking for a solution also. I opened up the back of the TV and blew out the dust. Then I checked all connections. I put it back together and plugged it in. Now it doesn't make the high-pitched squeeking sound, but I still don't get a picture. My guess is the picture bulb is burnt out. I'm trying to find one online and am planning to fix it myself - wish me luck!
