Please Provide Basic Instructions For Programming My Scanner
Hello. I appreciate any help that is offered to me. I recently my scanner as a gift. I am having great difficulty understanding how to use it. I think I programmed the trunked frequencies because when I chose srch the ids flashed on the screen. The next confusion is creating IDS. The manual describes everything in a complicated way. I was wondering if anyone could send basic instructions from all the steps. Thank you very much for your help.

The BC144XL is one of the few scanners that I haven't been able to locate a manual for, but programming it is fairly straight forward. Here's some guidance from Uniden:
Here are basic instructions for programming nearly all of the older scanners that Uniden produced.
When the scanner is turned on press the MANUAL key, then press the
channel number that you want to program first, then the MANUAL key
again. This will stop the scanner from scanning and hold it on the
channel that you want to program. Then you enter the frequency (be sure to use the decimal point
in the right area when entering in the frequency) and then press the E
or ENTER button to save the frequency on the channel. You are now
finished programming the channel. To advance to the next channel simply
press the MANUAL key and enter your next frequency the same way that
you entered it on the previous channel (as described at the beginning
of this paragraph).
You listed your question in the PRO-2096 section, so this response applies to that model. If you have a different scanner, please let us know the make and model.
The PRO-2096 is an advanced scanner capable of monitoring both single frequency conventional systems and advanced trunking radio systems. Programming methods are detailed and lengthy and cannot be reproduced here. For specific programming instructions, please see the scanner's operating manual, which can be downloaded/printed here:
The programming instructions are too detailed and lengthy to post here, so here's a link to the manual for your scanner. It will walk you through the programming process.
For an extensive database of active frequencies and systems in your area visit www.RadioReference.com or www.CityFreq.com

Hello there:
if you can go to www.uniden.com and search for your model number there is a programing section in there along with a downloadable users manual that will be able to help you out also if you know how to enter basic frequencies just go to www.scannerlive.com this will give you hundreds of scanner frequencies. ok
hope this helps you out please dont forget to give me a rating.

Not sure if your problem is the same as mine, but I encountered the same error and only to find that I plugged in a wrong power adapter so it didn't have enough power to advance the scanner head (My moving caused this mixup). Check your power adapter OUTPUT is 12V (or whatever is specified on the scanner itself, usually found on the label on the bottom or rear).
same problem need to reprogram
