S5000 - camera does not display images in 'review' mode - still stays in photo shoot mode

Hello... A few months ago, I was at a party outside taking pictures when the camera suddenly died - new batteries, went dead very quickly. Later, I replaced the batteries and the camera came back to life, however, it does not display the images in 'review' mode after the pictures have been taken. I can take pictures just fine, and they show up and look good when they have been downloaded to the computer - but I can't review them on the camera. Any suggestions or ideas on what might be wrong??? It's a very good camera and I'd hate to part with it, but when my last camera (a Sony) had some trouble, getting it repaired cost almost as much as a new camera... Let me know! Thanks!

Was dropped. Now will do everything EXCEPT take photos. Lens, display, flash, etc. etc. all work fine. Just no screen image or photo when in "shoot" mode.

Sounds like the CCD or a stuck shutter blade. Try this place: www.CamerasAndParts.com They only service Canons and they are the only place we recommend for the Canons. It's all they work on and they are about half the price of most shops, plus the work is just excellent through them.

My card has been inserted- when I open my camera in shoot mode auto - no Image appears in the eypice or in the back image display -- no image ??

There should be a button on the back that has"evf/lcd" try hitting that. It toggles between the two display modes.

The viewfinder will not display in the picture taking mode. It does display in the review mode.

Hello. Go to the menu on your camera and search it for reset. Then push the reset and it should solve your problem. Regards, Joe

I have new batteries in my S5000 but do not get an image on lcd

On the back there should be a small button above and to the right of the LCD screen that says EVF/LCD. You might try pressing it to change it, this is provided you can see through the viewfinder already.

Black screen for Shooting Canon S3 IS

I have a similar problem with my Canon S3 IS. Dark/black LCD in Shooting mode. However, I can view my existing photos in Display mode. I was about to spend money to get a Panasonic TZ5. Somehow I bumped into a solution post for S2 IS. Here is the link:

http://www.fixya.com/support/t1090569-black_screen

I tried their solutions twice and it WORKS. My S3 is working fine now.

Your CCD is faulty.
No DIY repair possible because no spares from Fuji available.
A Fuji repair is not worth it.

Nikon D40 Turn camera on, and it used to display the photo I was ready to shoot. Had this feature for a few weeks, now I only get the menu and a black screen How can I get that display back?

If you were seeing the image before you shoot, there was definitely something wrong with your camera.

The D40 does not have a Live View feature. The display is for menus, shooting information, and image review. Not preview.

XD card Problem

IF the images are lost (can't see them thru the camera), format the memory card (Photo mode button - Set - Format). These cards need to be reformatted frequently. I do it once a month, but I'd recommend it once every 500 pictures.
