Onions are particularly bad for cats as they break down the cat's red blood cells, the same goes with garlic and chives. Milk is also not good for cat's especially adult cats as their digestive system cannot cope with dairy products.

It is my understanding that cats appetites are controlled wholly by their sense of smell. It is also my understanding that adding a little garlic powder or crushed garlic to raw animal products, will encourage a sick or elderly cat to eat. (the smell is alluring). Also, milk has had a bad rap when it comes to cats, the truth is, milk may upset their tummys a little, due to the lactose sugars. However cream (which sits on top of the milk) is an awesome source of sustenance for any cat. And they just love it!

My cat won't eat, can I give him Pedialyte?

Excess dry food can cause renal failure and feline leukemia is also a possibility especially if it has been in contact with feral cats or their fluids, etc.
If it is a long haired cat that grooms itself extensively it could have lost appetite due to a stuck hairball.

Some cats do lose appetite when the scent of mating is in the air and can lose weight. If your cat won't eat for several days and loses considerable weight and nothing will tempt it to eat you should take it to the vet. If it doesn't drink then take it urgently.

Found some cube steaks in the freezer from 2010, are they safe to cook & eat?

Personally, I would not eat them. 1st, do you know if hey have been defrosted & then re-frozen in the last 3 yrs? (NOT GOOD!); 2nd, even if you did eat them, they are probably "freezer burned," & would taste awful. Hope this helps!

All of a sudden my cat won't touch this food. he is 5 years old, and has been eating it with no problem. He usually bolts it down with no problems, but now the food remains in his dish for days an

If he's been eating this food in the past, is it a new bag? Maybe it's not fresh or this bag tastes a bit off? If the Vet didn't have any suggestions, I'd consider returning the bag to the pet store, explaining the situation, and trying another brand. If it isn't a health thing it's a mental thing, so maybe try wet food for a while and then ease him into a different dry food to see if that breaks the mental block that seems to be occurring?

How often should I give my dog treats?

You should treat your dog as a positive reinforcement however the treat shouldn't affect meals, and shouldn't constitute more than 10 percent of your dog nutrition. Regular treating can cause weight gain, malnutrition and picky eating.

How come when I try to give my friend's cat rice and potatoes he won't eat it?

Cats are obligate carnivores, which means their natural diet is strictly raw meat ONLY. Cats biologically need the complete amino acid chain that is supplied in animal protein. Vegetables have amino acids but are missing certain parts, dogs and humans have the biological ability to synthesize the missing amino acid in vivo but cats can not. So long story short, no vegetables are not good for cats.
