RCA TV always start in 'grid' mode -- any way to change that?

Hi -- I have a RCA F27668 TV that always starts in 'grid' mode. My manual is in French, so (since I'm not hip to French) is essentially useless. Is there any way to change the MODE of the screen startup, so that it just tunes in full-screen to the last channel? That mode thing is kinda nice (I guess), but useless to me. Help!

I also have a RCA F27668 TV that now starts in 'grid' mode. It worked just fine for the first few years. Then one day the Grid came up empty without any program listings in the Guide Plus. We reset the Guide Plus System following the instructions in the Users Guide. It worked for a while but then stopped for no apparent reason. After that it started showing th grid mode periodically at start up.

Now it also pops into grid mode while we're watching it so we keep the remote close by. We once tried leaving it in grid mode and found it will pop out of grid mode after a long while. One night we left it do it's own thing and found it switched into and out of grid mode several times within a few hours. All the TV Repair shops say that they'll look at it but really have no idea what it could be. Help!

SOURCE: rca 32v432t tv plays, turnsoff, turnson, and stays in autochannel search mode

your going to need to do a resolder of dry looking solder jobs and or poor solder jobs
this could also be your front control board , try disconnecting it and see if the tv stays on
it is possible that the sensor has gone bad or the crystal needs to be replace or worse the EEPROM
my rca 27 in was doing the same thing , i resoldered the board and it worked great for 7 months
so do a resolder of all suspicious solder and heated components
then let me know what happens
also what is your model # for your rca tv ?
also one of rca's kits for repair is some solder and paste , so that should tell you something in its self about rca repairs ( the solder with the paste is supposed to make it handel heat better )
please give a fixya rating so that if you need more help in your tv , I can continue to help you further , thanks

the buttons switches are leaking more than likely this a comon problem in a lot of tvs they start leaking and send a voltage signal to the ics and tv will start doing funny things. Anyway need to replace these switches probley about six of them in all they are mounted on a board behind where you push the power button. Should replace all just to be on the safe side.

You need to replace the microprocessor. GoodLuck there is 52 pins to unsolder and resolder a new one. The price for the chip may bee about $35
