I have a Dell Dimension 4600 computer. After reloading a programme, my DVD/RW drive was no longer recognised as a Recorder by Sonic or Adobe Ele.2. I have reloaded Dell/Windows XP disk, but to no avail.HELP!
Have you tried to reinstall the driver? if so see if there is a firmware update for your cd drive I have had this issue in the past and a firmware update usually helps. If you have done these steps let me know and we will go from there.

Open the computer, and check if the cables that go to the CD/DVD drive are connected. If so, try downloading and installing the drivers for the disc drives. I hope you get it fixed!
The 4600 has PowerDVD to play DVDs (You should have the software CD to install it on the 3000) DVD burning software would be Roxio/Sonic, and you should have that CD too.
If you don't have the CDs, then try download.com to download Free player software and Burning software
