Hi, I just bought a Sony SLV-SE240 on sale because it didn't come with an instruction manuel. Now I'm having trouble connecting it to the TV (also a Sony). I've hoooked up the scart cable (correctly, I think). When I go to the corresponding input setting on the TV, I can hear the tape playing, but there is no image and the sound is on fast forward. I am in Europe, in case that is relevant. I've tried both European and US tapes and got the same problems. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it! blue

Way to go. Usually if you use anisotropic Alcohol with a few Q-tips works well I've found.
Try cleaning the other tap path items like the capstan that the pinch roller get's pushed up to also with this Alcohol. The cleaner the better the tape goes through. Much better picture.
Blessings,

SOURCE: I have a Sony SLV-SE240 VHS.
Look around the menus on the VCR and see if you can find "sound/audio" or something like it. Make certain it says NIACAM, that should solve the problem.
