Hi John, doing a reinstall is not advised unless you completely remove the software first. (Power off the printer).
Try removing all software for the 6200. Once all of the software has been removed restart the system. Check if the 6200 is still listed in, Printers and Faxes. (If it is listed delete it). Than download & install RegCure, which is a free program that will clean windows registry from all none needed keys. Download RegCure from this link:
http://www.pctuneuptips.com/recommends/clean/?gclid=CL2RiIrTmpICFSFMGgodODIPzg
Restart your system when RegCure has finished.
Now you can safely reinstall your printer software.

Good luck John!
Mike

How to change the ink

Please refer to this article - How to Set Up the Lexmark X3600 or X4600 Series All-In-One.

Sometimes the ink cartridge carrier won't automatically move to its loading position even when the printer is on and the cover is open. Follow the steps below:

1. Unplug the printer from the power source.

2. With the cover open, hold the solid white strip that connects from the carrier assembly to the ink cartridge carrier and gently slide the cartridge carrier to the center of the printer.

3. Remove the used cartridges.

4. Load the new cartridges. Close the cover.

5. Plug the printer back to the power source.

I have a lexmark prospect pro 200 series printer and there is an error message that reads "There is a problem with the printhead. Please consult User's Guide."

Updating the firmware for your Lexmark Pro200 series will help fix this problem. You will need to get rid of the error first before you can successfully update your printer. Follow these steps: 1. Open the cover of the printer > Remove the printhead. If the printhead will not go to the center, turn off the printer and pull the printhead to the center. 2. Once you have the printhead removed, close the cover of the printer and turn on the printer. 3. It will ask you to "Open Cover to Install the Printhead". Press the Cancel (Red X) button. 4. It should take you back to the "Copy" menu. 5. Proceed with the firmware update. Just go to http://bit.ly/p205fw. There'll be more than one download for your model, try the top download first. 6. Once the firmware update is successful, reinsert the printhead by following the steps on your printer screen.

I don't know how to scan and save the results to a file on my Lexmark. Can't find my user guide

To scan a document, please follow the steps given below:

1. Go to "Start," "All Programs," Lexmark 6200 Series, "Lexmark All-in-One Center."

To see how an image will look after it is scanned, click "Preview Now."

2. Click "Scan," "Send scanned image to."

If scanning an image, choose a graphics program such as "Lexmark Photo Editor," "MS Paint," etc.

If you wish to "Scan to OCR," choose a text program such as "MS Word," "WordPad," etc.

Once the image is scanned, the "Abbyy OCR" software will open automatically.

3. To begin the scanning process, click "Scan Now."

4. To view the additional options, click "See More Scan Settings."

To indicate what type of image is being scanned, select the "Option" next to the type of object you are scanning. Your settings will be optimized for that object type.

To indicate how the scan will be used, select the relevant option from the menu. Your resolution and other settings will be optimized based on your selection.

5. To revert back to the normal All-in-One main page, click "Hide Extra Scan Settings."

6. Under "Display Advanced Scan Settings"; you can see change settings, which will affect the outcome of your scan.

When I print pictures, there is a red and green line across them

Open the Lexmark Solution Center (shortcut should be in the Start Menu under Lexmark 6200 Series).
Click on the Maintenance tab.
Click on Clean to fix horizontal streaks.

If this doesn't help, you can try gently cleaning the nozzles manually using a cotton ball dipped in a little rubbing alcohol, then dry with a clean cloth. A little ink may come out when you do this and that's OK.
