Thanks repairguy but I checked all of the coils that I could see but none of them need to be resoldered. Any other Ideas? Thanks again.

Sounds like you have a bad solder connection on the coil connected to the base of the horizontal o/p transistor. the flyback has the big red wire. ( do not touch, just for reference), to the left and forward a little on a heat sink will be the transistor. on the other side of the heatsink,( a little more forward), you will fond a small coil on the board ir is red & you can see the windings. locate this part on the bottom of the board & resolder this part. good luck.

TV screen went black, sound is intact, can I fix it?

This sounds like you accidentally hit the input button on your remote. It will either be INPUT or SOURCE on you remote. Turn on your TV and source(cable box) and hit one of those buttons until your picture comes back

I was watching my television and all of a sudden the picture went snowy.

Only the older Analog type televisions get snow from lack of signal. The modern Digital TV gets pixilated. like missing pieces.
And on re-reading the title of your question, it does say CRT...... As in Cathode Ray Tube. (I thought they were all gone now, all around the world) Anyhow.... has your country switched off it's analog tv transmissions. This would give you snow. Because there is no Transmission. Seems unlikely they would stop transmission in the middle of what your watching.
So
Do you have a Digital Set Top Box feeding the TV? This would pick up Digital TV transmissions and convert them to your old CRT TV Screen. Knowing this should help you diagnose the problem.
Check the antenna input to your digital box and connections from the STB to your TV. They probably use a Yellow video cable and a Red & White (Sound Left & Right). You didn't mention if sound was still there?
Perhaps someone has pressed the remote control and the TV has jumped to one of the Antenna Channel inputs rather than the Video input (Yellow Video input)?
Might be that Simple.....
Good Luck

We have picture, but no sound; it is not the cable box. Suggestions?  We were watching the TV when suddenly the sound went dead.  Messing with the cables in the back brought it back temporarily,...

Try changing the cable. Is it a red and white composite audio cable or an hdmi cable? Try resetting the tv to the factory preset values. On the tv remote press the menu button and scroll over to setup. Scroll down to reset and press enter. Select yes then press enter. Select yes again then press enter. Then after the tv restarts go back to the correct input. I do recommend trying another set of cables if jiggling them did cause the sound to come back once before.
