I had the same problem and the tv was no longer under warranty but sony fixed it because for free because it was a common problem with this particular model and their fault. It was not easy to get them to cooperate but with the help from my local repair service they finally did.

The part # from sony for the optical engin is A1084668A sony has a list price of $1552.50 CDN. note replacing the optical engin is a difficult task in itself. the wire harnesses in the set MUST be put back in the same location when completed. if not it can cause interfearance in the picture or other problems.

Your blue LCD panel is failing. It is within the Optical Block and the entire block must be replaced in order to repair this. Over time (usually a short amount of time) this problem while progress until the picture is bad enough that you will want it fix immediately. So, it's good that you are looking into this now :) Here is a PN for the Optical Block... PN: A-1084-668-A I hope this helps.

Blue tint at the bottom of the screen

Your optical block (light engine) is going bad. A very expensive part. Sony has a history of trouble with a lot of these. Sont will also sometimes warranty them for customers. Contact them with your model, serial, and date of purchase. Good luck.

Blue haze across bottom 2" of screen on sony kdf-60xs955 lcd tv

The Blue cloud is caused by a filter inside the Optics ( light engine) . The lamp over time has destroyed a coating allowing too much of the wrong spectrum of light to pass. The only repair is to replace the Optics or remove the optics and send out to be rebuilt. Call Sony and talk to customer service they may be able to help ? The bad news is this trouble will continue to get worse, the blue will continue to grow most likely.
