Hi.
This is usually caused by a missing codec, so the computer tries to compensate, and the results aren't always acceptable.
I would download a codec package called K-Lite codec pack, it has every codec needed.

http://www.codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.htm Click on the direct download selection there on the page, and it will download an installer with all the codecs.
Run the program after it is done downloading, and then after running it, reboot your computer.
There is a selection for 64 bit on the page as well, in case you are running 64 bit operating system.
Once rebooted, your chipmunk audio problem should be resolved.
