I had the flashing not ready problem with my SS-700 Cuisinart as well. I pressed and held the rinse and Hot Water buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds while the Not Ready was flashing. After 10 sec or so the display went off completely. I then powered up with the power switch on the side and the coffee maker came and is working fine so far.

THANK YOU!!! This worked! Cuisinart Customer Support was 100% useless. I too was about to throw mine away because it was out of warranty. You saved me $199. Again - thanks.

I had two SS 700's with the same problem. The first was replaced under warranty in 2012. The second was out of warranty when it failed in 2015. I purchased another from Cuisinart at a discount. I then searched the web for a solution to keep the machine as a backup. I stumbled onto the button holding solution by experimentation. I found a site that suggested holding the on-off switch while plugging in the unit on a B60 model with a similar problem. I think I "confused" the logic board by pushing the buttons too fast. I think the unit "locked up" and needed a reboot :)

I just kept plugging and unplugging the coffee pot. Eventually, the clock stopped blinking, the buttons worked, and all was well.

SOURCE: DCC-1200 coffeemaker cleaning button flashes

Make sure that when you do the vinegar solution, you do at least 4 cups of white vinegar, and fill it up the rest of the way (max fill line) with water. The manual says to "fill to capacity with a mixture of 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water," which lots of people misunderstand, and think it means "1/3 CUP vinegar and 2/3 CUP water," which is not the case. It means 1/3 of your 12 cups (and 1/3 times 12 is 4 cups) of vinegar, and 2/3 of your 12 cups (aka, fill it up the rest of the way) of water.

You might have to let it soak for an hour before you try to brew it--this lets the vinegar work at the calcium buildup a LOT better (kind of like soaking your pots and pans before you try to clean them), but it should definitely work for you. If not, call Cuisinart's tech support (1 800 726 0190) and they might be able to get you a replacement :)

SOURCE: The cleaning button keeps flashing after cleaning.

We have this problem as well. We simply clean it as directed once or twice with the vinegar and water mix and then unplug for an hour. This resets our machine for several weeks. Based on the number of comments I've seen on this issue, it seems that the "off" sensor doesn't work.

Hi, Susan
I don't have your model but I'm going to guess that you should remove the external reservoir and run the machine as if you were making tea or coffee.

Not filling up cup

I got a Cusinart ss-700 that was tossed out. I'm finding that most of the malfunctions that people have been complaining about are definitely circuitboard-related. When you get errors and pump failures, etc., as with a computer (or any device with a programable board), unplug completely to clear all memory chips and reset the programing. Plug it back in and turn it on, and you'll get back all of the menu items and water will pass through the pump, into your mug. The problem I'm seeing is that it still doesn't pump the right amount of water. For a six ounce (default) brew/hot water, I'll get 3 ounces, then after a reboot, it gives 2 more ounces - another reboot and it gives another 2 ounces. Definitely a bad batch of motherboards in these ss-700's. I hope the guy that scored that manufacturing/supply "deal" got a demotion! Also notice that there's no reply/remedy from Cusinart - obvious that it's water under the bridge. :(

When brewing it makes a loud noise

I have 2 Cuisinart Coffee makers. Both make loud humming noises during the pump cycle. In my units, the water reservoir vibrates when the pump is active. Test by hand pressure on the water reservoir when brewing.
I experimented with adhesive foam pads and they worked well but...they eventually fell off. I often just push the unit against the wall behind it.

Need instruction book for Cuisinart Single Serve Brewing System Model # CUISS-700

Here are the instructions to de-scale your Cuisinart SS-700, taken directly from the unit's manual, available here (www.cuisinart.com/share/pdf/manuals/ss-700.pdf):

1. Empty the reservoir.

2. Disable the AUTO OFF and OFF TIME features.

3. Making sure there is no K-Cup in the brewing chamber, fill the reservoir with 60 oz. of undiluted white vinegar.

4. Place a large mug on the drip tray and run a Hot Water cycle. Select the 12 oz. brew size. Discard contents of mug.

5. Repeat the hot water process until ADD WATER is displayed on the control panel and the reservoir lights will flash.

6. Let the Brewer stand for at least four hours while still on.

7. Rinse the water reservoir thoroughly and fill with fresh water.

8. Run another Hot Water cycle. Discard contents of large mug.

9. Repeat hot water process until ADD WATER is displayed on the control panel and the reservoir lights will flash.

10. You may need to perform additional Hot Water cycles if you detect any residual vinegar taste.

Note: If DE-SCALE is still displayed on the control panel after completing the procedure, repeat the de-scaling procedure above.
