PS2 8MB memory card not detected at all!

I have over 3 maybe 4 yrs. worth of saved games on my memory card and whenever I put it in either slot 1 or slot 2 the screen still reads "no data". I haven't tried another memory card as to the fact that I only have one. I'm hoping that I don't have to buy another card because this one has really important data that took months at a time to come by. Please help.

Can not create internal memory card, whenever I try I returned back to the screen that says name a internal memory card.

http://ps3explained.com/intermediate/internal-memory-cards/
Create an Internal Memory Card on the PLAYSTATION 3 system HDD as follows:

1. Navigate to [Memory Card Utility (PS/PS2)] under [Game] on the XMB.
2. Press “X” to bring up the “New Internal Memory Card” option.
3. Tell the PLAYSTATION 3 which format you want it to create. PS2 or PS1.
4. Highlight “OK” and press “X” to finish creating the memory card.

Note that you can make new saves on this card while playing PS2 or PS1 games on the PS3, but it does not allow you to transfer saves from a physical memory card to the PS3's HDD. You need the memory card adapter to do that.

Hi..i have solution for this issue burnout 3 takedown with mcboot users only in ps2 saving error fixed,
If you are using OPL or you have to download OPL v0.8 here:http://psx-scene.com/forums/attachments/f150/22271d1291812361-open-ps2-loader-project-v0-8-openps2loader_0.8.zip. it is elf file you easily boot from usb or mc once you done.
ulaunchELF then browse and launch OPL v0.8 just go game setting on main manu put over burnout 3 by pressing triangle there is a option game setting there you can see VMC(Virtual memory card) VMC Slot 1 <not set> just select this and burnout 3 game code will appear just rename it as 001 and
just create it. Thats all here after it won't save by MC it will through your HDD or USB HDD whatever you're using it and one more thing there should be a folder create VMC/ in HDD directory.
Play burnout 3 take down without save error free..Enjoy pls comment.

Want to play ps1games

I don't have that problem with mine, I have two memory cards 1 for a PS 1 & 1 for a PS2 and it depends on what game I want to play as to which memory card I put in the 1st slot! maybe your system is different but I don't have any trouble saving anything from PS 1 onto a PS 1 memory card.

I don't know if this helped any, but I sure do hope that you get your problem fixed!!

Ps2 memory card

First of all, make sure the card is in slot one. I'm not sure about Guitar Hero 3, but I know many games default to searching the first slot (the one on your left as you look at the system).

Assuming that's not the problem, it could be a sign that your memory card is wearing out. Do you have a second memory card? If not, I suggest getting one. Either way, put one card in each slot, and go into the browser. Copy the Guitar Hero saves over to the other card, then put that card in slot 1 and see if it works. If it does, I suggest copying all your saved games over to the new card, and throwing the old one out before you lose any save games permanently.

My memory card slot 1 doesn't work can I change the unit so that games will save to slot 2 instead or how do I swap the slots in the unit

Hi,

When you choose to save when you are in any game, on the save screen you can choose to save to slot 2 provided there is a memory card inserted in slot 2.

Problem saving PSone games on PS3

If you go to "Game" on the settings menu when the PS3 starts up, simply create a new internal memory card, after doing so, assaign the memory card to a slot by pressing triangle. Then you should be able to save PSone games
