Per the first Google result for "reset ipod touch", http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/10/04/how-to-reset-iphone-and-ipod-touch-hard-reset-or-reboot/ says:
"Press and hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button simultaneously at the same time for at least ten seconds, then
the LCD display will clear and the Apple logo appears on the black
background. When Apple logo appears, reset is done"

Ok. I just got my ipod touch yesterday and its been charging ever since.
The problem is it should be done charging, but every time i press the home button all the screen shows is the connector and the itunes music sign.
Ive turned it off and back on and its still no use.
Im not really sure what to do?? Please Help!

Tried to reset, the Apple logo did appear, then the same Itunes Logo and Connector reappear. Have I completely messed up my Ipod up?
Same problem. Every reset just gets back to this screen
Ipod Touch is displaying the connector + arrow + itunes symbol. All reset attempts have failed, and the device is not recognized in itunes.
