Use the Restoration Disk. When asked choose Repair.
(Non-Destructive Installation)

You are missing basic Windows files. Boot loader files.
Also you may have to prepare to replace the harddrive. May have bad Sectors on it.
Means I would copy off all personal information, after getting that laptop going again, or you may lose it.

you need the audio driver to make the audio device work...unfortuneitly dell never made vista drivers for that model so your out of luck BUT you can give the windows xp version a shot, i advise if you do decide to do that BACK UP & CREATE RESTORE POINT! here is the drivers download list its the sigmatel-driver under the audio section download the file labeled in blue. run the file follow instructions. you will be prompted to restart so save your work before hand...audio drivers are usually pretty compatable with operating systems they aren't built for. and for future reference you should always have your drivers downloaded before upgrading or re-installing your windows operating system. for this particular reason. best of luck and have a good day. oh and here's Dell Inspirion 6000 downloads page

for this you have to do a pc restore
first turn off your comouter
then turn it on but as soon as you turn on keep tapping the F10nkey continuously
then you will get a ssytem recovery options screen
please select dell factory image restore to on that
then proceed futher
but all the data will be lost

You can get a recovery disk from Dell. Go to the Dell WEB site to order one.

Go to Dells support site, link is below and put in your model laptop, then choose your operating system, there will be a list of available drivers you can download from them. If you check Dell's support site for your model you'll find the XP / Vista drivers. Just download and install and it will work with Win 7.

Try holding Fn + F8, that should give you video options or automatically switch you to the next video option.

You need to go to www.support.dell.com and select "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have the proper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed return to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag", (serial number) of the 6000 laptop. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for every customer's computer they sell.
