Question about Akai PTH5498 54" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
I have double images, and the red and blue are all mixed up, I tried setting the Red Convergence but nothing happens, the book says to use the remote, but when I try this nothing moves. I can?t set the Red or the blue. Is there a problem with the convergence not working? This just started this, and now I have no way of setting the convergence. Any help will be greatly appreciated Thanks Pete
I have seen this problem before. Look at the convergence amp. section of the set. at the bottom of the heat sinks . there are 1 fuse at the bottom of each on the board they look like resistors they are 3.5 amp fuses, i believe, that blow. no way to tell except with a meter. try this first if it works you got it, if not truy replacing the amplifier ic's and fuses again if they blow. Good luck

If you cannot correct the problem in the customer conv adj menu, or by pressing an auto focus button, then you have a defect in the convergence circuit...don't attempt to enter the service menu (the other guy has incorrect info) You'll only make the repair more difficult for the trained technician...Good Luck

I had the same problem. you have to type in a code to bring the color grid up then adjust them left right up or down...But I lost the code and i need to do it again. So if anyone knows the code it will help us all out. It was something like mute-0-8 then click 7 for red and so on but I cant remember. I got the info from a downloadable repair manual it was very is to understand and read.
