Frigidaire FDB710LCS0 Dishwasher dial seems to stick?

The dial seems to stick and it runs forever, it seems to shut off, but not complete. There was a couple times I started it before going to bed. Next morning I thought it had finshed (wasn't running) I unloaded it (dishes were warm?). The dishes seemed clean and dry. After unloaded I shut the door and it started running. The dial was at about 8:00.
I have ran the unit twice while I was nearby to keep an eye on it. The dial seems to stick, it takes forever, If/when it finally gets to the dry cycle it does not empty water and never finishes unless I turn the dial. Can you help us? Is it the timer? Can I get a new timer? Can I fix this myself? I am pretty handy, was once a maintenance technician in a auto factory.
This dishwasher is about 4 years old. Unfortunately we never sent in the warranty card.
Thanks,
Bob

My daughter and I bought the same Frigidaire dishwasher at Lowes. We are having the same problem, runs forever if you don't move the dial. Gets stuck halfway between light wash and drying. They are both less than 6 months old.

Mine does the exact same thing, except that it gets stuck in two different places--normal wash AND just before going over into DRYING mode.

I had the same problem. Turn the HIGH TEMP buttons off. Simply turning them off corrected this problem for me. Mine got stuck in two places and I had to manually turn the dials or the washer would run all night.

    That solved the problem!
On the front of the machine , locate the HIGH TEMP Wash and High Temp Rinse Buttons.
Now, Push in the OFF button for BOTH!!!!!!

It worked for me! THANK YOU!!!!!

Frigidaire FDB710LCS0 Dishwasher dial will not continue if High temp button is "on" until a certain water temp is reached. I narrowed the problem to either the heating element or the thermostat. I intend to replace both just to be sure.
Thanks,
Bob

Dishwasher runs through cycle but fails to shut off when drying time is complete, melts the lower spray arm

I appreciate your post, George!

From the information you have provided your Frigidaire dishwasher runs through the full cycle and will not shut down once the drying time has completed. This could be an indication that a sensor has failed or the control panel is not communicating properly. The best way to pinpoint what the issue could be is to uninstall your dishwasher and disassemble it. This way you can test each electrical component and assure that they are receiving proper voltage. This, however, is not a simple DIY job. I would recommend seeking assistance from a professional technician for proper diagnosis and repair. Contacting a professional will prevent any future issues or unnecessary part purchases. -Matt

Samsung dw80f600uts dishwasher wont advance through complete cycles and runs forever unless I shut it off.

This could be either a bad controller/timer, or is could be a bad heater. You really need to have a technician come out and run some tests to find out what's wrong with your machine.

Dishwasher runs too long

Good Morning Tessa,

I understand that your Frigidaire dishwasher, model# FDB700BFC, is running too long. I also see that it seems to be getting stuck on one particular cycle and runs continuously for hours even though the water is hot. It sounds like there is possibly a miscommunication between the different boards inside your appliance. I please ask that you try resetting your dishwasher, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 20-30 minutes. Once power is restored, try running any cycle. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Dishwasher runs several hours

OK, that several hour wash cycle seems to be very abnormal and, the only way this can happen is if the timer control mechanism is damaged. this is referred to as a Overrun error. simply replacing the timer will fix this issue.

Runs forever! even on Normal wash...help !!

Check to make sure you heating element has not failed. Dishwashers of today heat the water periodically through out the cycle and if the element has failed. The heating delay light is the indicator that tells you that it is trying to heat the water.

The most obvious failure would be the mechanical timer that is behind / part of the knob used to select the cycle.

But, you may want to inspect the heating element in the sump area -- some dishwashers will wait (and wait) for the water temp to come up high.

Good Luck!
