Problem regarding shut down

The PC does not automaticall shut down

    My dell inspiron E1505 will not shut down/restart. It begins to shut down then removes all icons and all you see is the background, end of story :[

    I have tried every step in the trouble shooting guide, still nothing.

At least it doesn't Atomically shut down. that's a bigger problem.


but seriously give us a clue. no computer actually shuts down automatically, you have to push something or set it up to shut down on a timer or something. you've given us nothing to work from.

some ideas: remove the virus, remove torrent programs that might be keeping the computer running all the time, reinstall the OS.

the end programs means that some program is running while you are shutting down you have close all the program before shutting down you can just click end program or wit for the process to end by itself to know which program is running while you close press CTRL+ALT+DEl click the file you will see the program which are running go to shut down and click shut down its shut downs and the end program stops coming

My laptop is frozen in the shutting down mode
Hi,

This can be quite common and all you need to do is perform a forced shut down by pressing and holding down the on/off button until the laptop shuts off.

If it continues to hang on shut down then there is a possiblity that the registry is corrupt and needs to be cleaned with a 3rd party application like CCleaner for example.

When i shut it down it wont completly shut off it just keeps saying shutting down
Try this To end processes automatically at shutdown -

1. Open Regedit and navigate to HK_Users\.Default\Control Panel\Desktop

2. Double-click on AutoEndTasks

3. Change the value from 0 to 1

4. Reboot your machine

Now hung processes will end automatically when you try to shutdown or reboot your machine.

My pc is shutting down what should i do to prevent it?
You haven't mentioned if it turns off abruptly or shuts down telling you that the PC is shutting down.

- When your PC turns off abruptly, its mostly the CPU which heats up. The reason may vary from the CPU fan stopped working to CPU gone bad.

- If its a proper shutdown, most probably there is a virus on the PC.
