Question about Canon LaserBase MF5650 All-In-One Printer

2 Answers

Canon MF5650 I have just bought a second hand MF5650. I have plugged in the mains plug and USB cable, but the printer is not turning on. Is there a hidden on/off switch because all other buttons are not working. When i plug it in, i can here a slight humming sound, but nothing comes up on the display and the computer has not picked up the printer. Could there be a problem with the wiring inside the printer or just that i cant find the on button! Thanks

I don't have a solution. I can, however, assure you that there is NO on/off button. I have been using this a long time. Maybe you didn't connect the electricity cable strong enough?

A USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port

Windows display this message when a USB device is short-circuited. Try another USB cord or connect the usb to the port at the back of your pc. If it does not help then the problem resides in the printer. I will not suggest to dismantle your printer as there are no user serviceable parts inside.

Cannon printer pixma ip 1600 ink absorber full

Dear khalid,
To fix this problem you need to reset waste ink counter of the printer by using General Tools for Canon ip1200 series (General Tools for ip1300 & 1800 series also works on this printer)
Perform following step to reset waste ink counter:
  • Enter service mode:
-Plug in power cable while holding power button.
-Press RESUME button twice
  • Connect USB cable (you may also connect USB cable before entering service mode, no problem).
  • Run General Tool
  • Select USB port
  • Click waste ink counter: Main & Platen
  • Turn off the printer then turn on and run your printer as usual.
I think it will be more helpful with picture enclose. For I cannot insert image more than 150 kb here, I suggest you to visit Canon Inkjet Printer Forum. I have discussed this topic before.
Please rate me.

Software Installation Problem

I had this problem just a few minutes ago. The way to get through this is to plug in the USB cable *before* you begin the installation. When Windows detects a device and ask for drivers you need to click cancel for each device (printer, fax, scanner, etc) that it prompts for.

Run the installation disc or file as normal with the USB cable plugged in and it should work. It worked for me.

Bluetooth

My MP500 has a normal flat USB plug in.  Turn off your printer and just try plugging in a normal USB cable into that slot...You can use the printer cable if you want. Haven't rec'd the BU20 yet, but don't think it will be a problem.

Error message

The manual for the BJ-30 can be found here: http://downloadlibrary.usa.canon.com/cpr/pdf/Manuals/BJ30_user_manual.pdf On page 97 (105 of 183) it indicates your error message. Unfortunately, it does not give a way to resolve the issue other than bringing the device in for repair. I then came across this page which is a bit more descriptive with the error codes. http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/canon/bj/bj30.htm F12 is aPrintHead Temperature Error. It suggests trying to install a NEW print head. if the problem continues, the printer will require service.
